  1. Perhaps Adam Ottavino should now remove himself from Team USA.
  2. I think that the players in the WBC are insured so the Mets will be reimbursed for Edwin's salary.
  3. Yes, you can be hurt playing baseball if you're wearing a Mets uniform or a WBC uniform. You can get hurt when being chased by a wild boar or in a Miami taxi. The difference is that these are Mets employees who were acting for another entity outside of the Mets' control with a different goal than the Mets have. Maybe Raley would have had that injury at PSL or maybe he was throwing just a little bit harder to impress his new coaches. Maybe Quintana was "amped up" and trying too hard for March. However, Diaz definitely would not have been injured in a post-game celebration of a spring training game. Pete is now slumping, Jeff isn't playing and neither is properly getting ready for the season. Screw the WBC.
  4. My mistake: Pete is playing tonight. He's the DH.
  5. F these exhibitions. Remove Pete, Jeff, and Adam from the USA roster immediately. F the WBC. Pete and Jeff aren't even playing tonight. There is no purpose for them being there instead of with the Mets.
  6. Give Billy credit for not keeping Greene around with the hope that he'd improve. The Wilpons would have insisted that Greene stay.
  7. The Mets have seen enough of Zach Greene:
  8. Ronny Mauricio hit his 4th HR of the spring and it was one of the farthest I've seen at Clover Park:
  9. Matt Harvey went 4 today for Italy, and manager Mike Piazza, while only giving up 1 ER as Italy defeats the Netherlands and advances to the quarterfinals.
  10. =metirish post_id=119640 time=1678571316 user_id=72] Good game between Mexico and Colombia, unfortunately Smoltz is on the call
  11. Senga reportedly aggravated the finger operating a remote control while watching the WBC. "Fox Sports 1 is which channel? Does this hotel have Fox Sports 2?"
  12. Worst song by The Police ever.
  13. Edgy MD wrote: Players get paid for the WBC also. They get paid twice? First of all, it's minor compared to their MLB salary and second, F the WBC.
  14. He might have had the same injury if he was pitching for the Mets or if "ramping up" too early to be ready for the WBC caused the injury. We don't know but f**k the WBC. He's being paid to play for the Mets so play for the Mets.
  15. [bLOCKQUOTE]Before it made up this schedule, MLB asked all 30 teams for special requests and travel preferences. At least in part, the schedule reflects those requests. So teams such as the Mariners and Giants, who do a lot of flying no matter what the schedule looks like, tell MLB their preference is to take more three-city trips when they're traveling across the country. So if they're traveling east, they might as well see as much of the east as possible. The upside of that is fewer total road trips and less multi-time-zone travel. But other teams, like the Phillies, would rather do shorter trips — two cities, then back home — wherever possible. So that gives them more regular homestands and more flexible home scheduling. But in this case, it also means they find themselves making trips like Milwaukee/San Diego or Houston/Los Angeles.[/bLOCKQUOTE] https://theathletic.com/4150923/2023/02/03/mlb-schedule-2023-changes-questions/https://theathletic.com/4150923/2023/02/03/mlb-schedule-2023-changes-questions/
  16. Tim Locastro with an RBI single tonight. He's having a good spring and the Mets need a backup CF. Still, I'm not sure if he can make the team with Pham around.
  17. Thank you. I love that they get the West Coast trips over before the All-Star Break. An interesting article in The Athletic said that a team could request shorter or longer road trips. It appears Buck likes longer but fewer trips because they are away for longer stretches this year than last year (the schedule was made before he was hired). The Phillies seem to be the opposite, favoring more trips of shorter duration.
  18. Jose Quintana is out of the WBC because of the pain he felt during yesterday's game. From his Instagram: [bLOCKQUOTE] I want to share with all the followers of Colombia baseball. unfortunately I can't represent my country in this classic world, I have come dealing with a bother on the left side of my back, hoping to be 100% and attend to the call of our country, but today I had to leave the game because precisely the trouble still persists; it was a very difficult decision for me because as all my teammates I have the illusion to go out and give it everything for 🇨🇴 but as a professional I am aware that without health this is not possible. from the distance I send the best of energies to the boys and the technical body hoping that we will once again leave the name of the country high 🇨🇴. Now I'm just completely recovering and trying to be ready by the start of the 2023 MLB season.[/bLOCKQUOTE]
  19. Like many other teams, the Mets have two games with WBC teams this week. The WBC operates under 2022 rules but the Mets need to know the 2023 rules. I'm guessing that there won't be a pitch clock and the smaller bases will be used but will Buck ask his players to make believe the rules exist even if the other team is not using them (if that's even possible)?
  20. So the players can learn the new rules, then play games without those new rules and then return so they have to relearn them right before the regular season.
  21. The second documentary about Team Israel, the group described herein as the "ringeriest team":
  22. We hope that Quintana got that outing out of the way.
  23. As with everything else, they didn't do this for our benefit. If anything, it's an inconvenience to season ticket holders that had integrated their StubHub account with MLB. What needs to be done is to merge the Ballpark app with the MLB app. I transferred tickets for a game and StubHub claimed that I hadn't when the buyer didn't realize that the tickets were transferred (via StubHub's directions) using an app he didn't know he needed. I wrote to the guy and all was well.
  24. I guess so. The H2H format was too much work for a league without a prize (other than spiritual). If we played "year-long" I'd do it.
  25. The Mets signed Jaylin Davis to a minor league contract with a ST invite. He's a right-handed hitting OFer. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/davisja03.shtmlhttps://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/davisja03.shtml https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaylin_Davishttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaylin_Davis He has major league experience with SF and BOS and hit 35 HRs in the minors in 2019.
