  1. Don't forget that Marlins President David Sampson is in the new cast of Survivor, premiering this Wednesday at 8 PM on CBS.
  2. Why didn't WOR think of this when they got the Mets deal last fall? This seems kinda last minute but then again, they're also only getting around to hiring the pre- and post-game host.
  3. The least Colon could do is have Visa problems.

  6. By October, Wallace Matthew will dehydrate because of his constant flow of tears.
  7. Just because Josh Lewin is back doesn't mean that Jeffy didn't try to replace him with Cliff Floyd or John Franco. Regardless, this is wonderful news. Casey Stern for the pre- and post-game show should be solid. He does a nice job on XM's MLB network and grew up as a Mets fan.
  8. "A potentially great player." http://www.gammonsdaily.com/what-youre-getting-in-stephen-drew/ Yeah, the Mets wouldn't want THAT when they have Tejada.
  9. Gwreck wrote: And I love Josh, I think he does a great job and I'll be pissed if they don't keep him, but he's been here two years. How long he's been with the Mets is irrelevant. He is FANTASTIC and the Mets and/or WOR would be idiotic to replace him. Losing him would be be an unquestionable travesty. Correct. The Mets: mediocre. The Mets radio team: best in baseball.
  10. Used to be that you'd get to a game an hour early to watch BP. Now you have to get there an hour early to see the first pitch.
  11. From Raissman: METS RADIO SHAKEUP Ed Coleman will be back covering the Mets, but wont be hosting the pre- and postgame shows, or doing play-by-play, on WOR-AM. He will be serving strictly as WFANs Mets beat reporter. WOR suits did not look for continuity in their first broadcast season. A radio source said they wanted to shake things up and even were reluctant to bring Howie Rose back. Mets brass stuck its beak into that situation, but apparently didnt go to the mat for either Coleman or Josh Lewin, who likely will be back but not under a long term deal. From Puma: Mike Puma ?@NYPost_Mets Jan 18 Mets/WOR Radio plan to speak with Cliff Floyd about some kind of role. Howie Rose almost slam dunk to return. Less clarity with Josh Lewin. In sum, Josh Lewin might not be back because someone that likely knows nothing about baseball wants to make a change for the sake of change.

  14. From my vantage point in the audio area, it was an amazin' site. As g-fafif said, it just looked like we were happy to be with other Mets fans. We were in a MFY-free zone, in a place where no one is reminding us that the "Mets suck." Good point about the audio. I tried my best and McFadden's had a sound guy but I never felt everyone could hear my announcements (and occasional attempts at humor). I think the problem is that the facility was wired differently for the panel room, the area where Kranepool spoke, and for the bar area. There wasn't one button that I could push to be heard everywhere. I "sang" "Meet the Mets" with Mr. Met, and that should have been a unifying sing-a-long, but not everybody knew it was taking place. Also, good point about separating the times of the panels. Even with such great topics, you need a few minutes to stretch your legs and get a drink. McFadden's was not equipped to serve that many people (for those that weren't there, they only served hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken fingers but not their full menu). And when I say "served", there wasn't any wait staff--you had to stand in line and someone handed you the food. I don't think that anyone anticipated such a turnout. If the Mets don't think that they can pull this off on their own then things on the Executive Level are worse than I suspected. The Nationals and Cubs had events yesterday (thanks to [u:3ouasyh8]The Times[/u:3ouasyh8] for reporting on the Cubs event but ignoring the QBC). This is just laziness from a team that wasn't even smart enough to keep the team store open yesterday. That's right: 400 Mets fans at Citi Field and the team store was closed. Heaven forbid that we buy enough merchandise to give them less of an excuse to sign Stephen Drew. However, the Amway store was open all day! But... yesterday was fantastic. I schlepped up and back from DC and it was worth the trip.
  15. A flaw in an otherwise good idea is that current umpires will be reviewing the work of current umpires. Per mlb.com: "Two additional four-man umpiring crews will be hired and umpires will be rotated through New York to review video feeds." This means that eight new umpires (meaning last season's minor leaguers) will now become MLB umpires. The quality of the umpiring is arguable but it won't be improved by having eight newbies. Also, MLB could have used retired umpires or really anyone else (you and I can see the call on TV, too). Will a current umpire want to overrule his colleagues or perhaps a friend? At least the umpires, who already get two weeks off during the season, will get a period of time to enjoy New York and get paid without having to actually go to a ballpark. Another flaw is that there should a crew solely dedicated to games umpired by Angel Hernandez.
  16. Congratulations to the MFYs which had the benefit of a PED-using Rodriguez and now don't have to pay him (and clear cap space) while he's less effective.
  17. I'm looking forward to the event AND to seeing some of you. I'm one of the MC's so you'll hear me. You will be able to recognize me because I will be wearing my Mets jersey with "HYSEN" on the back from Fantasy Camp.
  18. From the January Avon catalogue: The text reads: "Superstar athlete and role model for our generation."
  19. Agreed, and it seems that Sandy does too: http://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/2013/12/20/the-value-of-saying-little/
  20. I see your point Zvon but the Beltran information was from years ago. It's not like he just walked out the door (as with Turner).
  21. Beltran needs to STFU. Yes, the Walter Reed incident was wrong but that was years ago. If he's so classy, he didn't need to mention it despite the prodding of the idiots in the main stream media ("that's water under the bridge, I'm just happy to be a [MFY]". He made millions from the Mets and that should have been enough to smile and say "I'm happy to be back in New York." I hope he hits .210 and is booed by the MFY mob by May.
  22. Memories of Seth Rosin? He was selected and traded to the Dodgers.
  23. The Rule V draft is Thursday at 10 AM. I'm guessing that the Mets select a reliever and hope they can hide him for a season in their inflated bullpen. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/mlb/clubs-will-be-looking-to-bolster-their-rosters-through-thursdays-rule-5-draft-at-the-winter-meetings?content_id=64468814&partnerId=as_mlb_20131212_15642724&vkey=news_mlb&ymd=20131207
  24. ... he didn't eat AT Shake Shack, he ATE the Shake Shack.
  25. Eats innings (your joke here) and has good control (I'm not making a weight joke). Good move. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=375&position=P#standard
