  1. Terry will say that it's for Nieuwenhuis' own good because he will get "some at bats." It's the same line he used for den Deker. It doesn't answer why C. Young is still on the roster.
  2. We can disagree but to me, this was a clever move by the Twins GM.
  3. Edgy MD wrote: You really want Kendrys Morales? He's a DH and occasional first baseman in the midst of a disastrous season. What? The Mets are averse to having players in the midst of disastrous seasons (see C. Young)? I was thinking that it worked out nicely for the Twins to pick him up for less than two months and then trade him for a prospect.

They didn't sign him until the 2nd week of June (he was one of those draft/compensation cases). Seattle importing a DH and the Yanx continually looking for pitching are added reminders of just how poorly the seemingly huge (at the time) deal of Michael Pineda for Jesus Montero has turned out for both sides. Lots of injuries, suspensions, and just plain suck! The Twins got a AAA pitcher for less than two months of Morales' salary. Seems like good management to me... so why didn't Sandy do it? He didn't have room on the bench for Morales? He'd have to sit Lucas or keep Campbell in AAA?
  5. I agree with you as does Keith Olbermann: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUqLq6EJwBA
  6. It's Mets fan on Mets fan action as Jon Stewart, wearing a black Mets cap, is the latest comedian to get coffee with Jerry Seinfeld. http://www.crackle.com/c/comedians-in-cars-getting-coffee

Who doesn't think about baseball all day? Then I started relating my life to their life. The life of a stand-up comic is very similar to that of a baseball player. You perform on this 85 to 93 percent level on a daily basis. You can't give 100 because you've gotta do it every day. When you're that road comic and doing it twice a night or three times a night, the obvious analogy to the season of a baseball player. It's an everyday thing and an up and down thing. It's all about having a short memory and being in the moment of that game. Bob Costas recently did an interview with Clayton Kershaw and Mike Trout, and at the end of the interview, he said Michael Jordan never stepped on the court and went 0-for-20, that Tom Brady never stepped on the field and didn't complete a pass. But that happens to guys like Kershaw and Trout all the time. That brutality, as a comedian, I can relate to that, because stand-up comedy is brutal that way. (Nice get from Mark Simon.) John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 15 2014 02:21 PM Re: Mets-Loving Big Shots (MLBS) 2014 That was a great interview. bmfc1 Aug 15 2014 06:04 PM Re: Mets-Loving Big Shots (MLBS) 2014 Star of MTV's "Teen Wolf", actor Dylan O'Brien. My wife read this article and said, "Damn, I had better seats for Game 6 than Jerry Seinfeld did!" She had loge seats and Seinfeld was upper deck. (And yes, we have the ticket stub.) 8. Good for d'A. That's the same team which danced at Shea (and on the Mets grave) so screw them.
  9. Nice job with "Fast Times" reference.
  10. Yadier Molina goes on the DL and should be out for between 2 and 3 months. I'm soooo sorry. What a shame. Too bad the Mets don't play STL during that time so we don't have to hear Gary fawn all over him.

  12. Two home runs means... What a deal! BRING THIS COUPON TO DUANE READE OR WALGREEN'S AND GET $1 OFF ANY NICE! SNACK ITEM $2.99 OR GREATER. COUPON VALID FOR 24 HOURS AFTER THE END OF THE 2 HOMER GAME.
  13. Gary plays the part of the homer by tracing the whole inning to Edgin. First question, why take out Dice-K, then why take out Black?
  14. What an idiot. He could have let Matzusaka start the inning--who cares how much he throws?--but no, he made a move. Then three more moves. Does Terry get a commission for every pitching change?
  15. 3 pitchers in one inning. I wish that someone would tie Terry's little legs to the bench so he couldn't make these pitching changes. Let Black get 3 outs. Once again, he's burned through the bullpen instead of showing confidence in his players.

Promote Michael Conforto NOW!!!! ... er, OK, sign him first, THEN promote him Remember when Sandy said that the Conforto was about to sign? From June 11: As for top pick Michael Conforto of Oregon State, general manager Sandy Alderson said on Tuesday that he does not anticipate any issues signing the outfielder. "I don't expect it will take very long," Alderson said. "Days rather than weeks." 17. Good stuff Edgy. Thank you.
  18. The MFYs obtain Brandon McCarthy from Arizona for Nuno.
  19. I agree with smg58 and would go "all in" on Castro. And the sooner the better so we can have something to watch as the Mets plod through the summer. John Harper agrees but he and his anonymous sources think that it will take two young pitchers: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/harper-mets-run-cubs-castro-article-1.1856497
  20. Let me rephrase so as not to slight the abilities of Ruben Tejada... if you want Mets to pursue Starlin Castro, what do you think it would take to obtain him in a trade? Noah S. too much?
  21. Castro is far from perfect but the Mets don't have a major league SS so I say Viva Castro!
  22. Frayed Knot wrote: No Wright, (essentially) no Niese, facing their one big pitcher, were down on the 3rd pitch of the game, had lost a bunch in a row = Nice Win! Well put.
  23. Eric Campbell making a claim to be the Mets full-time DH!
  24. Not that I expect Sandy to do anything but theoretically, what would it take to get Starlin Castro?
  25. What the hell was that? 2 on after walks, your alleged catcher of the future at bat, merely Tejada on deck, and dopey Terry bunts. Idiot.
