  1. If a deal with Milwaukee was struck, the day would essentially be d'Arnaud, Nimmo, Herrera and low pitching prospects for Lucroy, Bruce and ML relief help. It would leave Sandy with work to do at 2B in the off-season, but I'd consider it a favorable day.
  2. Twats on Twitter still saying Lucroy deal to the Mets is not yet dead even after Bruce. Still, it's being labelled as on "life support". Brews looking for Dilsson Herrera in addition to d'Arnuad per various sources.
  3. Crasnick and Carig say Bruce a done deal for Nimmo and two lower prospects pending physicals. Depending on the lower prospects, I can be OK with this deal since I think Nimmo's ceiling is likely not what Bruce will provide this year and next, but I don't think Bruce fills a glaring need in 2016, so I still scratch my head a little.
  4. Great. Move one of our more productive players (one of the ones we got for FREE) to the bench. Loney is out OPSing all of our other starters save Cespedes (granted, in half the ABs in some instances). I would be thumbs down on this move.
  5. I'm not sure how Bruce helps the Mets in 2016. Moving forward, I think it would telegraph that the Mets believe Cespy will be gone after this season and that they cannot or will not negotiate to keep him here. If Cespedes stays, it creates a major log jam in the OF, yet Bruce does not play CF, so it is a log jam of corner OFs. I'll believe the Mets spending 2017 Grandy money on a bench player when I see it...and if Curtis is tradeable, his value is decreasing by the day. Whiffs a lot.
  6. The 2016 Mets have the same record as the 2015 Mets after 104 games. It feels like we have been watching the same team. Can lightening strike twice? Consecutively? I guess it can, but what are the odds?
  7. Frayed Knot wrote: Now rumors have the Mets turning their attention to Jay Bruce although I'm not sure how he's a real fit either, especially seeing as how he'd be gone at the end of the year. At least with Lucroy you'd also get his 2017 season in the swap. Bruce has a $13 million team option or a $1 million buyout for 2017. Yet, even with the option, I'm not all that interested in Bruce.
  8. Lucroy's 2016 WAR is higher than Cespedes'. And he has been consistently producing for a few years now. I'm missing how Lucroy wouldn't be a significant upgrade over d'Arnaud.
  9. Yeah, 12 teams and 1 winner makes it tough to get excited if your are not near the top of the standings. By this time each season, I'm usually already dumping for next year.
  10. I look forward to seeing more Flores.
  11. This incident (plus the Sox mediocrity) has intensified the whispers that Robin won't be asked to continue managing in Chicago after the end of the year.
  12. Not having a losing streak since the All-Star break is cool an all, but eventually this team is going to need to win a few in a row.
  13. Agreed on DeAza. Disagree on d'Arnaud. Catcher is a place the team can improve. Unless d'Arnaud does become better than Lucroy by this time tomorrow.
  14. Lucroy has a team option for 2017 at $5,250,000...I'm assuming that would transfer via a trade. The Mets may have offered a catcher-for-catcher straight up swap, but I'm not sure why the Brewers would trade one of their best players for someone who has (so far) been inferior even if Travis has a few years of team control.
  15. I've had my eye on Lucroy since Travis got hurt earlier this year. However, I think it's going to take much more than a swap for d'A to get him. I'm not sure what else we would have to give up while remaining a contender this season.
  16. Nice to win one without a HR being hit.
  17. Little Cubs fan switches baseballs before throwing back Mets HR ball
  18. I don't have any desire to trade Rosario for anything.
  19. Great job, BG! Thanks for continuing to put an awesome effort into this...very fun stuff.
  20. .500 Cespedes...who will immediately split for a 6-year-deal on an AL team.
  21. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: This sounds insane, but what if we traded Walker back to Pittsburgh for Niese? Yes...insane. Niese's 2016 ERA is a run higher than last year's. I've no problem dealing Walker for pitching. But if we're going to watch someone struggle every fifth day, I'd rather it not be Niese.
  22. Centerfield wrote: It also strikes me that Murph is very lucky. Not to take away anything from his relationship with Sandy, which must be great, but if Murph is writing in his name, he is incredibly blessed not to have someone in his inner circle of friends and family affected by cancer. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/daniel-murphy-stands-sandy-alderson-battle-cancer-article-1.2709069 “My family has been really blessed in that we haven’t really been touched by cancer,” Murphy explained. “So, (Mets Vice President of PR) Jay Horwitz brought it up that Sandy is going through his treatment and so I thought it was fitting."
