    I'm satisfied with them just playing tonight considering they were dead in the water six weeks ago. It was not what I expected at the beginning of the year, but much better than I expected on August 20. That being said, I would love to see them advance to play the Cubs. I think these Metsies could give them a run for their money.

    That MadBum/deGrom and Cueto/Lugo games in San Fran were when I nearly gave up on this season. Those games were August 18th/19th and my wedding anniversary was August 20th. My wife and I went out on the 20th and I didn't DVR the game for later viewing (for the first time all year). I remember being pretty pissed and defeated about the Mets. But, I checked my phone late in the night and saw that they had won. The Noah Sunday night game was great...enough so that I continued to watch. Two of three from St. Louis. Two of three from Philly. Three of four from Miami (including the Cespedes walk-off). Suddenly, unexpectedly and surprisingly the 2015-esque magic was back.

    A do-or-die playoff lineup including Reyes, Loney and Rivera x2? NO ONE could have seen that coming at the start of the season. Win or lose, it emphasizes what a wild ride it has been!

    I start a full beard every October 1, so it's not really a playoff beard. The weird thing (relatively) that I do is eat Smarties candies during tense points in playoff games. This started back in 2000 and I typically nervously eat them piece by piece during the later innings. I don't eat Smarties at any other time in my life...but now, I don't watch a playoff game without them. I will also be wearing my Mets cap and jersey, which I rarely wear at other times unless attending games. I'm likely to be drinking some of the New Glarus Octoberfest beer as well.

    I had predicted (expected) 84 wins in '15 (they won 90 in actuality) and 94 wins in '16 (they won 87 in actuality). So, for the two years combined, the Mets are failing my expectations by one game. They can more than make up for that one game with the one they play on Wednesday.

    What I find to be amazing is that, as far as I can tell, only 10 players from the 2015 World Series roster are locks to be on a 2016 Mets post-season roster: Bartolo Colon Jeurys Familia Addison Reed Hansel Robles Noah Syndergaard Travis d'Arnaud Lucas Duda Kelly Johnson Yoenis Cespedes Curtis Granderson There are 5 guys from the 2015 World Series roster on the bubble: Sean Gilmartin Wilmer Flores Michael Conforto Juan Lagares Kevin Plawecki There are 10 players from the 2015 World Series roster that will definitely NOT play for the Mets in the 2016 postseason: Tyler Clippard Jacob deGrom Matt Harvey Steven Matz Jonathon Niese Daniel Murphy Juan Uribe David Wright Michael Cuddyer Kirk Nieuwenhuis
