  2. Keeping hope alive for World Series Game 3 Starter.
  3. I'll be attending the Reds at the Brewers today for a company outing. Battling for 4th place in the NL Central.
  4. Doing OK these days.

  6. I've got no problems with Sandy.

  8. I'm traveling for work in Salt Lake City this week. My evenings are free tonight and tomorrow, so I broke out the iPad to watch the game on MLB.TV. Apparently, SLC is in the Arizona Dback's blackout zone. I'm with Howie tonight.

Before the season, I would have said, "It was a plus to get rid of Niese. Bastardo will be useful in the bullpen. We're not going to need another fifth starter." Niese is useless, but so was Bastardo. Garbage in, garbage out. Indifferent.
  10. Great work by a fellow midwesterner! Wait, who is Kate Upton's uncle?
  11. I personally think Matz played a little over his head last year...which was great for the 2015 Mets, but it has probably raised overall expectations for him to something that he may not be able to compete with right now. Especially, if he is playing through pain. Really, we may end up adding Matz to the list of players with injuries that the Mets have tried to ignore until it becomes too much for the player to bear. If his pain is effecting his ability to pitch well, then the Mets need to strongly consider shutting him down. I don't know if that is truly the case and I'm sure the team and Matz will deny it in perpetuity...but it certainly wouldn't surprise me. He looks to me like a guy who has lost some confidence. I'm not convinced it's a natural ability issue as much as a playing with pain (indirectly influencing his ability) issue.
  12. Shoulda been DL-ed weeks ago. The Mets have been hamstrung by injuries this season, but they have also been monumentally bad at managing those injuries and putting a fully healthy 25-man roster in the dugout each day.
  13. Per Metsblog: Duda shut down for 30 days due to back flare up. I don't see any way that he is coming back this season.
  14. Yo has now been here for a year and a day: 150 G, 620 PA, 557 AB, 88 R, 162 H, 32 2B, 5 3B, 39 HR, 103 RBI, .291/.355/.576/.931
  15. As long as Bruce isn't last year's Bruce...his 2015 Aug and Sept stats were stinky!
  16. I don't think there is any doubt that Yo will try again to see what he can get on the open market in the off season. I believe an opt-out is all but certain (unless his injury sits him out for a large portion of the rest of the year). I think the Mets will likely make an offer if he cannot find a long term deal like they did last season. Yes, Bruce was a hedge against Yo leaving...but I'm not sure it was a move designed to get in Cespedes' head.

  18. I'll admit, once Yo gets healthy, the Mets now have A LOT of offensive potential. I hope 5 days of DHing gets him right.
  19. The optimists are up. Give me a reason (or three) why you think the Mets can make the playoffs this season. I'll start: The average opponent's winning percentage in Mets games remaining: .474 18 games against last place teams (ARI, ATL, MIN, CIN) 13 games against below .500 but not last place teams (SDP and PHI) 15 games against above .500 but not first place teams (NYY, DET, MIA, STL) 10 games against first place teams (WAS and SF) A few opportunities left to make head-to-head hay vs. WAS, MIA and STL...but also plenty of opportunities to beat up on the little guys.
  20. Jason Bay caught that bug. It's a doozy.
  21. If they could have held the lead, it would have been a second comeback win in a row with a deficit-to-lead HR. I was hoping for some magic to believe in...but this team seems to be running on fumes.
  22. Andrew Susac came back from SF. He is a near ready catching prospect, so it is no longer likely that Milwaukee would need d'Arnaud if (when) Lucroy is dealt.
  23. To the Giants: [youtube:3kfyo4zt]wQjDSlVyGiU[/youtube:3kfyo4zt]
  24. Will Smith to the Giants per multiple sources...so the plot thickens.
