  1. In Cincinnati, they're tied at 1 after three with [youtube:23pm4q1v]FkLTwX0duY4[/youtube:23pm4q1v]
  2. I'm rooting for a Cardinal loss tonight and a Mets win against the Phillies' bullpen outing tomorrow. That would provide a clinch of playing a game on Wednesday. I'm pretty sure ties are not celebrated. We were discussing in some thread last week, but I'm of the opinion that champagne corks should only be popped with a win on Wednesday.
  3. 538.com has the Mets' odds at 99%. I'm very comfortable saying it is likely that the Mets will get into the WC play-in game (99% scares the side of me that knows that anything is possible). Everything went right last night.
  4. sharpie wrote: Also thinking that with Cabrera banged up Terry wants to keep him in reserve to play the field if need be. This was my first thought. Holding him back in case his D is needed?
  5. Frayed Knot wrote: in running from the bear that is a post-season-less October, we don't have to out-run both SF & StL we just have to out-run one of them and let the bear eat the other. I like this analogy.
  6. Mets Guy in Michigan wrote: Major League caps will have little New Era logos on the side starting next season. I don't like this. BOO!!!!!![/bigpurple]
  7. I lost it along with Keith. It's a shame. I'll always remember Fernandez as a tremendous talent and huge competitor.
  8. Edgy MD wrote: Same lineup as yesterday, no? How often has that happened since April? The exact players have appeared in the exact lineup spot as the previous game (spots 1-8, of course) just 11 times this season, 7 times since April and only 4 times since July 1. The last time was 9/14 @ Washington. Three identical lineups in a row has only happened once this season (April 19-22), though there was an off day between the second and third games. The Mets record while trotting out the same lineup as the previous game: 2-9
  9. Is Bartolo Colon the Best 43-Year-Old Pitcher of All Time?
  10. As a reminder, the Cards are in Chicago today, so it will be a gay dame with a 2:20PM ET start. Leake vs. Arrieta. Again, SF plays obscenely late (10:40PM ET).
  11. I see LEGEND playing on cable from time to time and will need to catch it next time I see it. Unfortunately, I often confuse it for the 1985 Tom Cruise fantasy flick.
  12. I was watching the end of the game in my bedroom with the volume turned obnoxiously low and my wife and kid sleeping next to me. I have never silently screamed so loud.
  13. Nope...I'll add it to my queue, thanks!
  14. Per 538.com, There’s A 10 Percent Chance Of A Three-Way MLB Wild-Card Tie
  15. G-Fafif wrote: ...I wish they'd stop with the public magical thinking. "DeGrom will start Sunday! Matz will start Friday! Fairy dust will fall everywhere!" This x 1000. Ultimately, if Matz can't execute or has pain, I don't want him starting anyways, but, yeah, the Mets are quite tease-y.
  16. Harris' rob job of Delgado would have been a game tying dinger. MLB just posted this to YouTube today. Coincidence? [youtube:qcff2bkx]j9H58rj-e8s[/youtube:qcff2bkx]
  17. I'd love to be confident going into '17 with an outfield of Conforto, Bruce and some sort of Laggy/Grandy platoon in center. But looking at the performance of Bruce and Conforto right now, and given Laggy's injury history and the continuation of a Granderson decline due to age next season, it's hardly confidence building.
  18. Finally saw this on cable. It was better than I thought it would be. Leo won the Oscar for this, but really, with the makeup, special effects, fight choreography and lack of dialogue, I thought many actors could have pulled the lead role off just as well. Tom Hardy was the best actor in this flick. The cinematography Oscar was well deserved with the nearly total natural light and outdoor settings. The opening sequence and hand-to-hand fight sequence at the end were brilliantly done.
  19. Agreed. He's been a pretty consistent offensive force for over a year now and has earned long-term consideration from the Mets. Yeah, he makes some head-shaking defensive and base running errors, but I feel his bat is necessary to compete next season and beyond...especially with the question marks now surrounding Harvey, deGrom, Matz and Wheeler coming back from injury. If Conforto of 2016 was the Conforto of 2015, I might feel differently.
  20. Lefty Specialist wrote: The thing that sticks with me is the total mismanagement of the bullpen. This. I like Terry as a manager of the personalities in the clubhouse, but his in-game decision making has been awful this season...even more so than in the past. Yuck.
  21. Is it specifically because of his faith or the way that he wears his faith on his sleeve? I honestly don't know one way or the other (my Tebow knowledge is pretty low), but there are lots of sports figures who have faith.
  22. 9/179/169/169/219/219/169/159/139/119/7 The ChiSox are on the block.
