  1. when the CBA expires, the strike is gonna be looooong
  2. there's some tiny baseball batter taking hacks at Conforto's turdhole
  3. it's not even being politically correct, it's just being correct.
  4. Farewell to the name disabled list, a smart and thoughtful move that will surely piss someone off for some stupid reason . As far as we all know, the length of stay is still 10 days? I read grumblings they wanted to go back to 15.
  5. The Phillies are a Harper or Machado away from being a wrecking ball
  6. So I listened to ep1 yesterday. It was basically Tommy chatting with his friend and former teammate at Cal State Fullerton. His friend was 'the guest' so they focused that guy's playing days in the Mexican league, etc. It was a first episode and it kinda lacked structure a bit (more like a couple of buddies just bullshitting) but it has potential to be cool and could be a great vehicle for a professional baseball player to describe what it's like week-in and week-out in the minors. I'm hopeful.
  7. =G-Fafif post_id=2459 time=1549481082 user_id=55] I'm trying to imagine somebody who doesn't much care for baseball deciding that if they'd only tweak the game enough, damn, I want to watch baseball.
  8. Original thread --> http://www.thecranepool.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=27219http://www.thecranepool.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=27219 Updating on the status of my latest adoptee as I've just learned last night (via twitter) that he's started his own podcast! I haven't had the opporunity to listen yet, but imma try to spin it today. Glad to see the show biz genes are thick in this kid's DNA. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DysYg4XUYAA68VL.jpg:large>
  9. Ah. "Extend Your Dynasty" on the dashboard page. Looks like it's $20 this year. I think we agreed to pump it up? Ghost of Ceetar, what say you? Edit: Thx, Wolfie.
  10. Yeah, turns out he's quite the follow on Tweeter.
  11. Got an email saying I needed to re-claim my ottoneu team. How does one do this?

That seemed pretty easy, but Team Davis had me stumped. After some internet researchin', and squinting at the shirts, I think we've got Zach Lutz, Josh Thole, and ... Mike Nickeas? Looks a bit chubby. When I was in high school, my friend and I would go to the bowling alley on Northern Boulevard in Bayside on Saturday mornings. MFY left hander Whitey Ford was often there. He bowled with his right hand because he wanted to "protect" his pitching arm. I wonder if pitchers these days share that concern. Later Looks like Steven Matz does. https://thenypost.files.wordpress.com/2018/11/steven_matz_2.jpg?quality=90&strip=all> It also looks like his usual sad face has fallen a little extra this evening, with the knowledge that he couldn't get any other big shot guests at his inaugural Strikes with Steven event except Mr. Met. Anybody recognize someone from this crew? The two guys standing by the column look young and athletic. I thought 100,000% that was Isringhausen on the far right for Team Ike.
  13. =metsmarathon post_id=2371 time=1549382135 user_id=83] i'm thinking that being from texas, and having a cannon for an arm, thor might make for a decent qb. not sure how he is at reading the defenses, of course, but he can probably air it out with the best of them.
  14. Bless Piazza's bleached tips, I can't tell if he's got more of a Sum 41 / NOFX / Warped Tour vibe, or if it's more of a nu metal/buttrock pastiche like Puddle of Mudddd, Staind or the biggest of the big dogs, Nickelback.
  15. I feel like Tony Clark would make an awesome real-life NFL tight end.
  16. Looking like a super quick stop-over in late June, but shooting to double my money with the Friday, June 29 / Saturday June 30 back-to-back v. Atlanta. If anyone else might be in da house...
  17. Mr. Jerry Blevins signs a minor league deal w/ the A's. Can make $1.5M if he makes the big club. I said before I didn't think JB would have to settle for a minor league deal, but would have totally been good with re-signing him to similar.
  18. Also, any baseball football team without Butch Huskey is not going to win many baseball football games.
  19. DJ Dozier, naturally. Todd Pratt seems like he could be a defensive end or something. Also steroid-pumped up Todd Hundley could be one of those middle-linebacker guys who wears too much eyeblack and looks like the Ultimate Warrior and you want him on your team but nowhere near your kids.
  20. Astonishingly, offensively cheap-assed Mets! How do you try to charge that man for seats? What a nice story. Good to remember that all humans don't suck.
  21. I would love it if some 6th starter was pissed off at receiving only mop-up innings because the 1-5 stalwarts were healthy and missed no starts. But there will no doubt be injuries and if the 10-day DL doesn't go away, there will be opportunities to manipulate "rest" and get dudes some starts. And yanking Lugo or Gselly means we take a hit on the bully depth. I don't love that notion either.
  22. Yes, very promising Also, Carleton's book is only $2.99 on Kindle if anyone here buys electronic books from that devil retailer. I just bought it.
  23. A complete penis of a man, LOL. Oh, and "Temperamental, unpredictable, occasionally brilliant" sounds like Matz.
  24. yesyesyes. I mean don't care about Gio Gonzalez per se, but the Mets do need a Gio Gonzalez. This Gio Gonzalez would be fine and probably challenge Vargas anyway.
  25. I think that might be a comparison to European football where there is a tight 30-day transfer window in January, and a defined, pre-season transfer window (which lasts, like 3 months). There is a hell of a frenzy the last couple of days before the window shuts. You can't drag into pre-season and still sign a guy on the cheap. You miss out and you're done until the next transfer window.
