  1. I've never been so happy about a gross billionaire making other gross billionaires richer.
  2. Kevin Appier also wants in on this conversation. Edit: Appier was a lot better than I remembered.
  3. I don't recall having feelings about Ricardo Jordan or Toby Borland, ever, for that matter. But Wacha and Porcello were sold to us as solid additions when every indicator was that they were both gonna be shit.
  4. It's probable anyway. I didn't hear cackling like Billy Bush from the other person, but Thom seemed to know he could say that in front of whoever he was in front of without any consequences.
  5. I say yes on Diaz, especially if the Mets are going to use him in high leverage spots regardless, and for more than one inning like they did yesterday (even if it was a little shaky). He's striking out 2/3rd's of the hitters he faces. The HR% is down. Hell, the league's BABIP against him is .500, so there's still room for improvement. The only knock against him is the walks. But I'm back on #TeamDiaz.

But more importantly, the VERY FIRST THING they teach you in broadcast elementary school is to treat EVERY mic as if it's a HOT mic. You wouldn't figure a second generation broadcaster would get tripped up on that but I guess complacency sets in eventually.
  7. I love how 10 minutes later Thom was a different person when begging for his job. Get that shitbag outta there.

Which is especially amazing seeing as how he doesn't even play for the Rangers! Mike Trout is just that good.
  9. These two have been on a collision course for a while. Remember the Mets said they didn't expect him to play and Yo jumps on social media showing vids of him, in fact playing, and contradicting the Mets. The contract re-working I'm sure sewed a few more seeds of division, too. Not surprised he seemed to say "eff the Mets" and up and bailed, but a little surprised the Mets let us all believe he could've gotten kidnapped in the middle of the night or something to make Yo look like shit.
  10. https://twitter.com/ken_rosenthal/status/1289991004083412992?s=21https://twitter.com/ken_rosenthal/status/1289991004083412992?s=21 That would lead one to believe they know where is then, yeah?
  11. So best case scenario, he went golfing and left his phone at the hotel. He's out of the Mets bubble now and would have to quarantine for how many days? The Mets would surely fine him, yall think they would suspend him for a game, too? I hope this is all it is.
  12. Yeah he's a super pinch runner in the age of stupid baseball 2020. Imagine this stupid bullshit: top of the 9th, 2 outs, runner at first. Pinch run Hamilton. You could steal him, yes. Or you could have him sit down between first and second and get "picked off". In-form Diaz (fantasy, I know) mows down the opposing team in the bottom of the 9th and Hamilton starts the 10th on second with no outs. This idiotic scenario is possible in 2020 now.
  13. Didn't report to the park? Don't they all stay in the same hotel and travel together? Assuming they beat on his hotel room door today, so it sounds like he bailed from the hotel at some point then. I hope he's ok.
  14. I did not know Dozier was on this team. Sorry, guys, not pulling my weight.
  15. Sports where travel is required just doesn't make any damn sense during a pandemic. The MLS still had two teams drop out of their tournament and it all took place in a hub city. All credit to the NWSL! First American sport back and they did a full tournament with no positive tests. The women nailed it.
  16. I hope they change VORP to VORM. There could be a team of literal replacement Marlins to change baseball stats forever.
  17. Good things if the season got cancelled: -Another year of Cano's contract is now behind us -The Rick Porcello era is over -The Pete Alonso second year regression is only "rumored" -Edwin Diaz doesn't really suck again -Jed Lowrie. There's sadly nothing positive I can say about Jed Lowrie.
  18. SS - Elvis Andrus
  19. A pretty good one, too! The optimism Opening Day carries is some kinda witchcraft magick. It's gotta be.
  20. Just saw A-Rod on Jake Tapper's show on CNN. Jake asked Alex if he thought the Braves and Indians should change their name. Alex said he doesn't have enough information on it (huh?) and that it's above his pay grade, then smiled the shit-eatingest politician smile I've ever seen. I don't like him.

(Next week some time? Maybe, like, 8ish?) Might be fun to do a Zoom IGT one evening next week. That sounds fun. We've been doing zoom watch parties for soccer matches and the interaction is pretty fun. Some people are slightly ahead or behind the action, which can be frustrating, though. If seeing someone pump their fist before you know what the hell happened sounds annoying to you, then it might not be the best time.
  23. Damn it. Got behind at work and didn't recover. If there's ever another.....
  24. We have to make sure we give KC lots of moderation challenges to overcome to make sure he's ready for the big leagues.
  25. That sounds fun. I'm in, unless some last-minute shit makes me not be in.
