  1. Okay, he needed a nice, quick inning and he got one. Now lets get some runs.
  2. Willets- Martin hit a double off the right field wall. Green threw a strike to Valentin who threw a strike to Lo Duca who tagged out Kent diving into home. JD Drew didn't stop at third, though, and was right on Ken't tail. Don't know why he didn't slow down with the play developing in front of him, but he kept running. Maine shouted at Lo Duca that another runner was coming home and Lo Duca put down a second tag to get the also diving Drew out at home. It was unreal. That inning could've been a hell of a lot worse. Maine at 42 pitches now at the end of 2.
  3. Oops. Sorry for the clutter.
  4. ]By Boobs McSmiley Long Island City College Campus Rag October 4, 2006, 11:49 AM EDT Mets catcher Paul Lo Duca strained his lower back last night while "churning the butter" on the dance floor at popular campus hang-out "The Live Bait". Lo Duca is no stranger to "The Live Bait's" 18-and-over night, but on this occasion, the 34-year old veteran catcher appeared to overexhert himself while trying to keep up with sorority sisters Joann Martarella, 19-years old from East Brunswick, New Jersey, and Marisela Flores, 18-years old from Washington Heights. Said Flores of Lo Duca, "At first I said, 'Get away from me old man, you can't dance for sh*t!', but then I found out he plays baseball and we drank rum runners and danced all night. He's so sweet and dresses real good." At Lo Duca's request, several football players from the school's team attempted to carry him off the dance floor after he sustained his injury, but the group was sidetracked when starting fullback Todd Haney spotted a group doing a keg stand behind the bar. Said Haney, "I told him, 'Dude, you should do a keg stand, you should totally fu**ing do it!' and he said 'Okay, it's not like I'll need to stand up for it', but he totally sucked at it. He had like three gulps and he started gagging. Such a pu**y." X-rays on Lo Duca were negative, but he'll likely miss Game 1 of the National League Division Series today at Shea Stadium. Club officials, however, said to expect him to be ready for action for Thursday's "Ladies Night".
  5. Quirky, number 97-wearing, left-handed specialist Joe Beimel was left of the NLDS roster after cutting his hand on some glass in his hotel room yesterday. With the desperate need for our offense to kick ass this series, this news now looms quite freaking large. Former DRay Mark Hendrickson is now the lone lefty in the Dodger pen. Sorry if this was already posted in one the other threads.
  6. Yeah, that's her.

  8. 1) Jeanie Zelasko was looking kinda slutty in the pre-game show. I likey. 2) FOX seems to have finally figured out a way to superimpose a banner behind home plate without completely and totally annoying me. 3) Go Tigers.
  9. Piazza can't make the play on a tough Pujols pop-up in foul ground. Later in the at bat, Albert smokes a hanging Peavy slider for a 2-run bomb. Another road team looking to steal a game 1 win against the home team's ace.
  10. Good game, I think. Peavy and Carp both dealing. Props to SD for wearing home whites today and not dark blue or camouflage or whatever other dreck they have hanging in their dressing rooms.
  11. I think you missed Wilson Betemit at third, and though Ethier held down left for most of the summer, he slumped and hit the bench around mid-September when Marlon Anderson caught fire. I'd be surprised if Marlon didn't see most of the time in left.
  12. Muniz finished with 31 regular season saves and then saved all five St. Lucie victories during their Championship run. That's pretty fantastic.
  13. Yancy Street Gang wrote: I wonder how aware Jose is that he's two steals away from a club record, and if he is, how much he cares? I'm sure he's very aware and judging by the 7 steals in the last 5 or 6 games, I think he cares plenty.
  14. Huh. Thanks for the very excellent recap. Bobby was a wild man. That made for quite a boxscore.
  15. There's a small, 2-page piece about the Mets in the current issue of TIME that lightly details how Omar turned this bunch of "also-rans" into a World Series contender using "salsa and smarts". The article does well to point out the acquisitions of guys like Endy and Valentin (Omar's "Montreal Model", looking for cheap players no one else wants to touch), but lost me when they called Wagner and Wright "goofy white guys". The highlight of the article was this Glavine quote on Wright: "He thinks he's God's gift to women. We have to remind him it's totally about the uniform, not him." Zinger!
  16. UMD also shows Roger Cedeo appeared at second base one game in '99. Anyone remember what was up with dat? Oops. Fixed link.
  17. I'm worried that my game-used Timo Perez jockstrap has declined in value, not to mention effectiveness, since I've been wearing it every day. Thank God Almighty, Timo is free at last!
  18. ]The other guys in the booth have been joking about when Keith is going to get another memo from management. He certainly doesn't handle the job like he wants to stay in the business for long. No, he doesn't, but his candor and frankness is pretty refreshing and kinda funny to me. He's like the guy that's fun to hang out with having a couple of drinks at a bar, but you're a little afraid of what he's going to say when you're around people you actually respect.
  19. "McClellan calls the game like he's on a Valium or something". Awesome, Keith.
  20. Is that the Mad Magazine "M"? Nicely done.
  21. Johnny Dickshot wrote: Well, this isn't going well but for the pre-bearded. If you're too scared of your wife, your religion or your boss to walk around looking stupid for a couple weeks, then I urge you to take up some other foolish gesture with playoff mojo implications. Ya wussies. I'm with you, damn it. I've got a little less than a week's worth on my face now and it's going nowhere. Shaving sucks anyway. I'm in like Daryl Boston.
  22. I turned that damn game off in the top of the 9th when the Dodgers gave up 3 and looked dead. I'm watching the replay on FSW right now. Amazing.
  23. MLB.TV playing the Eurythmics "Here Comes the Rain Again"...
  24. Tommy Hutton on the FSN Florida broadcast is intolerable. I'm not from New York, but his anti-New York sentiment annoys me.
