  1. I'll take the two series in LA.
  2. If I'm not mistaken, I think Alexa collects stats from interweb surfers who've installed their toolbar. I'm not sure what the internet user gets out of the deal, but I wouldn't want that thing running on my computer.
  3. It's cool, man. I imagine there's not much of a choice left. Another league I'm in had to go with another week altogether.
  4. Yeah, that Saturday doesn't work for me either, but I didn't want to say anything being new guy. I'll ready for the autodraft, too.
  5. Wow, I guess so. I just got back to work and checked. Like the smack talk already.
  6. Thanks, wolf. I have no babies or family commitments like most humans and I work 3 days a week. I'm an ideal fantasy robot.
  7. I'd like to join in this year if a spot's open.
  8. cooby wrote: It does sound depressing. Does anybody else live, Seo? It is depressing. Damn thing made me cry even, and it's hanging with me now, too. There are other humans that survived, but in their desperate and starved conditions, none are trustworthy. The boy calls them "the bad guys" and clings to hope that there are other "good guys" out there somewhere. He's empathetic and hopeful, and it kills the father that their circumstances may crush that from him. It's so good.
  9. Just finished "The Road" by Cormack McCarthy. It's the haunting story of an unnamed father and son trudging through a dark, post-apocalyptic world following an unspecified (but probably nuclear) annihilation. As the two try to survive off the scorched, barren earth that provides nothing but more challenges, a beautiful bond forms between them as they both try to provide for each other and stay sane in a mad, new world. It's beautifully written, but dark, haunting, and a fucking depressing painting of desperate humans doing anything and everything to survive. Highly, highly recommend it.
  10. "To have the president walk you around and show you all the paintings - George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan - it was unbelievable," David said. That was hilarious. Positively Colbertian.
  11. "He had no idea he was doing anything that wrong..." C'mon, mom.
  12. Saw this yesterday and thought it was fantastic. It's part fairy tale, part war drama, part horror film, and all of it's dark and scary as childhood wonderment and fantasy collides with the harsh world-is-a-rotting-shitbox reality of adulthood. Great looking film, cool story (if a little "Legend of Zelda" with the tasks), great acting (especially the lead girl "Ofelia" and the head maid "Mercedes"), and a super ending. One of the cooler movies I've seen in a while.
  13. I finally saw it and thought it was as funny as it was disturbing, the disturbing parts being 1) seeing his giant, naked co-stars cash and prizes and 2) hearing the disgusting shit people say when they think no one is listening. (Vic): i really hate this kind of stuff. It doesn't make me laugh, it makes me cringe... and a little nauseous. I agree some, but it was those moments that made me cringe a little that were the most important and insightful ones in the film to me. (martin:) it is hard for me to accept the criticism and mockery of americans for their ignorance and silly beliefs from a jew who thinks god cares that he keeps kosher and doesnt use certain machines on the sabbath. is that any less irrational than the silly traditions of the dummies in the movie? irrationality and ignorance is either ok or it isnt. the fundamentalist nutcases in the movie are not that crazy compared to a practicing jew who cares that the cereal he eats was approved by a rabbi. That wasn't the point, man. There are religious fanatics with "irrational and silly traditions" all over the world. But they're not just in the middle east. We've got some here, too. i dont disagree with the mockery of americans. i disagree with the idea that cohen is anything other than exactly as bad as those americans he is taunting. Who's presenting that idea? You? Because it wasn't Cohen in the movie. once again i am not too psyched about a movie trying to teach me a little lesson. Yeah, fuck learning. Good film. Two enthusiastic thumbs up.
  14. Marty Noble was on Charlie Steiner's radio show on XM today, and when asked about the Lo Duca/Thomson thing, Noble said he didn't know much about Thomson but said there was this one thing... Steiner immediately asked if it had to do with a particular tattoo Thomson had and Noble said yes. Steiner then explained that Thomson proudly wears a Confederate flag tattoo on his arm, Noble then recalls asking Mo Vaughn if it would cause a problem when Thomson was traded to the Mets (Mo said no), and then Noble reiterates he doesn't really know Thomson, but hints at that as a possible reason Thomson came off hot for seemingly no reason.
  15. His splits still look pretty good against NL teams the last couple of years. I'm sure the DBags are banking on him looking more dominant being back in the NL. San Diego's supposed interest must have been enough for AZ to eat all that dough.
  16. I think all of it together makes one mean ensemble.
  17. I'm sure within his profession, Pearlman probably is known as "The Rocker Article Guy", but I'm sure none of those basketball guys would've known who he was had his friend not said anything. As for the CD, the admin of the school should've said, "No, ass, you can't have the Twisted Sister CD", but a look at the bigger picture, I think, reveals that Rocker did the school and the kids a favor by removing it.
  18. Is that the Japanese version of a White Sox jersey or is that another team? The head on that, um, microphone that chick was wielding was freaking me out.
  19. I don't know, I don't think they're so crazy. Sure they want to sign him, but the Sox are in pretty good position. They have no competition driving up the price, and as badly as they want him, I don't see any way Boras happily takes nothing and watches Matsuzaka go back to Japan. Maybe 5 years/$55 mils gets it done.
  20. The Ft. Worth Star Telegram says Eric Gagne had handful of suitors, but is leaning towards either the Rangers or Indians for around 1 year/$6 mil. He wasn't throwing hard at all last year before he went on the shelf again, but he he's never walked anybody and still has a killer change-up. I don't see why he couldn't be as effective as Trevor Hoffman. Could be a very nice pickup for someone. Jay Satan close to a deal with the O's sez the Washington Post.
  21. Darren's hitting lefty in that card when he's listed as a righty. Might explain the .205 BA.
  22. Not a fan of the black bill either, but I love the new home whites. They look so much cleaner than this ugly sleeveless thing last year. I also dig the font and the numbers. I think they match pretty nicely, and look kind of turn-of-the-century like Mr.Redlegs and his crazy mustache. I'm fine with the drop shadow, too. It's minimal black (it's a shadow) and it gives the lettering depth. Subtle make-over but pretty well done, I think.
  23. Randy Wolf and his pack turn down Benson Bunch money to sign with the Dodgers for 1-year/$7.5 with a vesting option. Sez he wanted to live and play at home more than he wanted the big bucks.
  24. I always dug Davis. He was pretty dern good in 04 and 05 but started walking everyone last year. Decent guy to take a chance on.
  25. Pierre's probably not a free agent anymore, nor was he free (looks like 5 years/$45 mils to the Dodgers). Damn, that's a lot of money for feckin' Juan Pierre. Furcal gets on base more, but I guess he'll probably drop to second. Nice illusion, but they still haven't replaced Drew's punch.
