  1. ="Zvon"]And Willie pulls Maine? Had to. There's still a shot he has to pitch next week. No point in having him throw 130 pitches in a blowout, right? Nice picture from the Yahoo site. Adorable kid. Can't spell, but adorable just the same.

You can't score a fucking run in a big spot, steal a fucking base, make a smart fucking decision, get a fucking out in a big spot. Then, now, one fucking game from elimination, all of a sudden you score ten runs and give up oogatz? Eff you, Mets. EFF YOU. 7 fucks and you end with two Eff's?
  3. What a wild-ass game. I was going to tape it to watch later tonight but I'm out of bourbon.
  4. METS. California knows how to party.
  5. Green's been smoking mostly righties, no? Gotta go with Conine, I think. Edit: Screw me. Go Shawn!
  6. Pretty decent sinker and slider. Most importantly, a scoreless inning. Lets get some fucking runs here.
  7. Ruben Go-Time. My Adopt-A-Prospect, C-Los set to make his Major League debut... Go on, Carlos.
  8. Nice play, Alou. That Austin Kearns looks a lot like Aaron Heilman.
  9. Sweet little diving play by Wright to end the top half. Pelfrey looked good, peppering the corners. That first pitch slider to Zim looked a little flat, though. Out of habit, I went for the fast-forward on the Tivo and got denied. First live game for me in a good while. LGM!
  10. Coors Field's Park Factor is 107 this year, not so crazy a hitter's park as it used to, but still second most favorable in the league (GAP in Cincy is 108). Shea, by comparison, is a 95, and Wright kills there. You can't count Holliday's numbers at home against him or anything, and it's not like he sucks on the road, but the splits are pretty dramatic and worth noting.
  11. TransMonk wrote: Mets.com has him with #38. I can't recall a pitcher ever having a single digit number. Thanks, both. I just heard the 8 and it sounded funny.
  12. Did Howie say Carlos Muniz in #8?
  13. Right on.
  14. I woke up feeling kinda bummed that I have just 10 more regular season games to watch this season. I always slink into an offseason depression, so I perked up after knowing I have a Mets game to watch tonight, even though they've lately just made me drink and swear more. We're in first place. And Scott Olsen's pitching against us tonight. And BK Kim tomorrow. Things are okay.
  15. I had the FSN Florida feed and they showed Lastings blow back out of the dugout after everything had settled. Lo Duca and Willie were talking to the ump (I thought about the lineup change) and here comes the kid like a maniac out of nowhere. Rickey really put his work in keeping Lastings from getting at Joyce.
  16. Found another link, this one from the Boston Globe directly quoting Red Sox Director of Baseball Operations Brian O'Halloran. Sounds like the kicker is that if you make the substitution, the hurt guy cannot return even for the next series. ]"The position-player-for-position-player / pitcher-for-pitcher requirement is indeed now gone for substitutions prior to a series," O'Halloran wrote in an e-mail. "However, teams now are allowed to substitute for an injured player during a series. Such in-series substitutions are position-player-for-position-player / pitcher-for-pitcher, and the injured player cannot be active for the remainder of that series or the next series. Those substitutions also require MLB approval.
  17. Edit: The rule you cited is probably the one I was thinking of. I found this link from a guy at the Boston Herald dated 5/21/07 that says: ]Also, there was a rule change with the new CBA, whereby now teams can replace an injured player during the middle of a series. But I can't find anything anywhere that confirms it. So, who knows.
  18. Yancy Street Gang wrote: Yeah, Hernandez' injury pretty much settles the Mets playoff rotation, barring any further injuries. If Maine doesn't get his shit together, could Pelfrey displace him? I doubt it. Willie gave Oliver Perez playoff starts last year, and at that point Perez had almost exclusively sucked. I hope they don't end up with another Cliff Floyd situation this year, where they put an injured guy on the playoff roster and find that they can't really use him. Some candidates for that slot are Alou, Hernandez, and Lo Duca. I think they added a rule change allowing teams to swap out a guy if he's deemed hurt after he's added to the postseason roster. At least I hope they did.
  19. Edgy DC wrote: Excoriating. I was embarrassed for him after reading that Rule V bit.
  20. Be cooler if you were born in 1911.
