    I don't think the Mets view 2027 as a rebuilding year. And let's be honest, in a system where 12 teams make the playoffs, there really is no reason a big market team should have a rebuilding year. I get that we have two months and about 50 games or so to figure things out, but that's really not a big sample size. If Nate Lavender pitches to a high 3 ERA in 2026 garbage time, are we going to trust him to get Kyle Schwarber out in a big spot?

    I thought this thread was going to be about the 2027 bullpen. But yes, the Mets are going to have some decisions to make. Some candidates: 1. Devin Williams 2. Reid Garrett 3. Dedniel Nunez 4. Tylor Megill 5. Tobias Myers 6. Nate Lavender 7. Jeffrey Yan 8. Daniel Duarte 9. Kodai Senga And this is before signing anyone.

    Not for nothing, after generations of getting our asses kicked in Atlanta, it would be nice for this crew to create some new history. One of the benefits of the David Stearns turnover is that none of these guys have the demons from prior Mets teams. Let's create a new generation of Mets that regularly kicks Atlanta's ass.

    I mean, look at this list of guys who have an OPS under .700: Vlad Guerrero, Trea Turner, Willy Adames, Steven Kwan, Jazz Chisholm, Bo Bichette, Nico Horner, Gunnar Henderson, Daulton Varsho, Austin Riley, Xander Bogaerts, Jarren Duran. If one team boasted this lineup before the season, you'd think they were a World Series contender.

    Cowtripper makes a great point. Consider Cal Raleigh. As crazy as it was for him to have an OPS 200 points above his career average, he's now 200 points below his career average this year. Austin Riley has turned into Marcus Semien, but Michael Harris has found himself again after two down years. Something has changed in the game where it's very rare to have a reliable slugger to plug into your lineup year after year.

    I think the conversation has been kinda lively (on the Mets board anyway) for what has been a dead Mets season. I'm glad some guys are back. I thought I saw Fman posting not long ago. Wish we could get Greg and KC back. Miss those guys.

    2027 looks a lot better if Sean Manaea has figured things out. Does the bounceback seem sustainable? meaning does the stuff look good? Or just some good luck today?

    JD Drew and Brian Giles were douchy. Jim Edmonds was king of douchy. Ty Wigginton was a swell guy. Love Ty.

    Benge up to a .736 OPS on the season. .798 OPS in August after an .801 OPS in July. Trending upward.

    I was at this game. It was terrible. At that point I was so sick of the Mets and their shitty losing. Beatles night was fun, and the Mets took a lead. But Helsley and Raley couldn't get anyone out. Just awful. And Citi was drowning them with boos. Seattle tacked on more the next inning. And for the only time I can ever remember, we left the game early. Everyone was looking at me like "really"? And I was like yeah. Fuck these guys. I can't stand to watch anymore. We were in the car when Shortcenter says to me "it's 11-9". So then we ended up turning on the radio just to hear them go down gutless in the 9th. It's crazy how bad things have been these last two years.

    When Kodai Senga becomes our lockdown closer we’re all gonna have a hard time remembering he was once a bad starter.
