  1. At 1:55 I'm still in the concessions line at Shea.
  2. What I was thinking that there could be an incorrigible pitcher who goes to his mouth on the mound four consecutive times. The batter is awarded a walk even though no pitches are thrown. The next guy hits into a double play. Next guy flies out on the first pitch. 3 outs, 2 pitches. An even incorrigibler pitcher could get away with one pitch by going to his mouth 8 times.
  3. It's breakable. Kind of.
  4. If he were a man he would have finished the game like Seaver. Seaver's 10 came to end the game right? I think I remember him talking about it once and joking that the only reason it wasn't more than 10 is because the game was over.
  5. Guesses: Ichiro Luis Castillo
  6. Philadelphia creeps toward .500 with their 5th straight, winning tonight against Washington. Cubs beat the Brew Crew on the day they lose Prior for the season again.
  7. Good answer by Omar.
  8. Braves cough up 4 in the 9th and lose to the Fish. Mets still in first. MFY's rained out.
  9. OHernandez 3 Easley 3 Chavez 2 Schoenweis 1 Green 1
  10. Not real Mets.
  11. Twice last night, Met announcers came close to wandering into "True Yankee" crap. The first one was not so bad...after Easley's HR, Gary Cohen was saying how it might be the first time Easley felt like a New Yorker. I guess that's ok, since it addresses a player's state of mind...or at least how comfortable he feels on his new team. The second was more egregious. In the post-game interview, Kevin Burkhardt said to Easley: "Do you feel like you're really a Met now?" What a load of crap. Since we dish it out to Yankee fans, I think we have to call out our guys when they start spewing the same kind of garbage. I loved Easley's response though: "Well, I'm wearing the uniform."
  12. They lost 12. Two were rained out.

    I think he ate Jim.
  14. Edgy DC wrote: Well, winning may a tough haul, but let's not no-hit by Phinneus here.Cool reference. Get that little medallion thingie and let's do the third inning again. Question: How did those two help Babe Ruth?
  15. At this point, I'm inclined to choose "Die".
  16. ="Yancy Street Gang"]I had mentally resigned myself to a loss and was stunned when Easley hit that homer. Now Beltran is batting with Lo Duca the winning run on first. Vanis takee! I actually had the remote in my hand ready to turn the TV off. Cool game. I can't believe they were playing back...with Endy you always have to consider the bunt.
  17. Who was that in the studio last night? Flipping through I didn't recognize him. Matt Yallof is pretty dumb.
  18. I'll take the Angels.
  19. Mr. Petcka clearly needs different representation.
  20. Fuck yesterday. Fuck the Braves. I don't think I know the Rockies.
  21. ]Petcka's lawyer, Charles Hochbaum, defended the actor, claiming that it was Norman who was the aggressor. "I can say what we believe happened," the attorney said. "The cat bit him, then any injuries to the cat were in response to being bit." Wow. Just wow.
  22. I had no problem with Burgos facing Thorman (though I did have a problem with Green dropping the ball). I don't see why Shoeneweis was left in to face Renteria. You can go against the book when the game is not on the line, like with Burgos/Thorman, but once the move doesn't work out, how many times are you going to tempt fate? Renteria was the tying run. You bring in the righty there. At this point I seriously started wondering if Willie understood the whole lefty/righty concept. The move I had the biggest problem with, though it worked out, was walking Francoer and leaving Shoeneweis in to face McCann. I don't know how many batters had to reach before Willie was going to understand that Scott didn't have it that day.
  23. Kelly Johnson's afternoon got me wondering. I understand that 0 for 4 with 4 K's is a Golden Sombrero, 0 for 5 with 5 K's will earn you a platinum. But what if you are 0 for 4 with 4k's and then you get a hit your last time up at bat? Have you still earned a Golden Sombrero? How about if you are 1 for 5 with 4 K's, but hit a HR in your third at-bat? What if you strikeout 4 times, but then walk your fifth time up?
