  1. I think the Braves pitching helped mask it but our batters look like shit.
  2. Have you seen some of the chicks fman has been bringing around? It's a wonder we are not all diseased. Thanks admins. Really appreciate it.
  3. That's a terrific point FK. It's important that the Mets get off to a quick start and take care of business against the lower division teams like San Diego and Milwaukee. The head-to-head games against Washington are really going to be critical, and may end up deciding the ultimate winner of this division. They'll have to watch for LA, who will be looking for revenge after last fall, and Colorado is always a tough place to play. The Mets have to just focus and think about collecting wins. That's what they have to do, collect wins. Win ball games, and they'll be in good shape.
  4. We really should get together and drink Schaefer. Maybe a midtown bar during an afternoon game? I'd really like to meet Henry VIII.
  5. This is cool. But I think I'd rather have them hover around .500 and make a strong play for the second wild card slot. So that they can trade away their farm system for Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval at the trade deadline.
  6. Most frustrating game of the year. Really glad there will be another game in a few hours. I hope (and think) Harvey will be fine. But man does he fucking suck right now. I feel like last night was set up by going inept for the last 8 innings the night before. We've now failed to score in 17 of 18 innings against the Braves. Sucko.
  7. Start a new streak tonight.
  8. Holy fucking crap. What is there to even say. I remember years ago when I was a kid the Mets go no-hit by some Giants rookie named Chris Heston. I know it's hard for you kids to imagine this, but that Mets team had the worst offense in baseball. It's hard not to think of the 10 running inning against the Braves when you see something like that. The difference for me, was that it felt like the Braves inning could end at any time (I think a bunch of runs scored with 2 outs) but just kept going. Last night, it felt like they were going to bat for hours. Surprised no one has mentioned how similar the Cespedes HR was to Piazza's HR that capped that inning. Re-live that glorious moment again. It's too bad that it was a 45 degree night in April versus a jammed house in July. Fake tweet of the night: @kligtenberg46 to @mnbway: "Been there bro. Ur better than this. Tomorrow will be better!"
  9. If the MFY's continue to suck, it might be fun to re-visit the original TH teams (Braves and MFY's). It might end up being half the season.
  10. Plus, it's not like he was promised a starting position. He was going to be a part-time player anyway. He's just more part-timier than he might have imagined.
  11. Seriously? How skinny was he before roids? Wow. Whatever. Easier for us! Yay!

  13. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Guy looks like he can play a little. Right field? Left? Center? No sweat. Couple hits and a walk? Can do. Can run. Has some pop. Such an improvement over the crap that was on the first half 2015 bench.
  14. How great is it that it was the Phils beating Papelbon? Half a game. We could be in first place in 24 hours. Amazing considering how the season started for the Mets and Nationals.
  15. Choke him! Do it!
  16. Come on guys. This is definitely creepy. If we were to invite Jim Henderson over, one of us would have to run home first and hide this thread.
  17. Frayed Knot wrote: Niese was handed a 7-0 lead last night but immediately gave 4 of those runs back and only lasted thru 5, evntually getting a ND in a game the Pirates won in the 12th. Obviously the defense is to blame.
  18. Some interesting things going on so far in this early season: 1. Washington: I would have loved for them to stumble out of the gates and be mired in a terrible slump, but it's also kind of cool that they got off to that hot start, played about as well as they could have played, and now see their big lead shrink to a single game. Imagine if they don't even get out of April with the division lead despite not having played a team over .500 (and 9 games against what look like the 2 worst teams in baseball). That would be pretty demoralizing. Big game for them today. 1.5 versus .5 game lead going into a weekend series where they play a team that is actually good. 2. Philadelphia looks to be better than anyone expected. They definitely have some pitching. Maybe some bats too. I think both Philly and Miami will be pesky this year. Atlanta looks worse than expected. Which I didn't think was possible. 3. Cubs finish off against Milwaukee and then head to Atlanta. They might be playing close to .800 ball by the time that series is done!
  19. April 26, 2016 Mets 4, Reds 3 Phillies 4, Nats 3 Rangers 10, MFY's 1
  20. Travis d'Arnaud hurt? You don't say. Maybe he can take this time to get his head straight. He hasn't been right since he came off the DL last year. He's doing that Julio Franco nonsense and his swing looks like shit.

  22. Hey, you know who hasn't hit 8 HR's? And is not batting .400? Ben Zobrist. That's who. His numbers? .250 with 1 HR. It's not quite George Costanza, but I'm thinking going forward Sandy should compile his list of targets, rank them, then skip right to #2.
  23. I'm all for cleavage.
  24. It's very early, but I wouldn't be surprised if the current top 6 end up being the eventual playoff contenders. Maybe Arizona and SF make some noise. I think Miami will be better than they have shown so far, and I think Philly will slow down.
