  1. Melissa Rodriguez makes me want to learn Spanish. And forget English.
  2. 4-6 weeks is not terrible. Even 8 weeks brings him back in time for August/September. I think someone can fake it until then. Really wish they had gone with Dilson Herrera though.
  3. This game sucks already. Shoulda called up Dilson.
  4. Things that take too long that I would like to see MLB shorten: 1. The off-season 2. The day after Opening Day 3. Off-days in general. Can we say all off-days will only be 18 hours long? 4. The amount of time spent talking about reducing the time of games. Things that are just fine as is: 1. The length of baseball games. When I am home watching, there is nothing I'd rather watch. When I am at the game, there's no place I'd rather be. If I'm not watching, I don't care.
  5. Dr. Altcheck has reportedly arrived at HSS and exchanged pleasantries with the nurses and staff about their weekend. Rosie had an ok weekend, but her in-laws were in town, and you know how exhausting that can be. Frank and his partner visited the HighLine for the first time, and thought the whole thing was kind of overrated. Altcheck has a whole-wheat bagel and coffee, and is settling into his office. More details later as they emerge.
  6. Please just take at least one game. Don't get swept you assholes.
  7. That's a little surprising. Does that suggest that the DL time will be less for Duda?
  8. Call up Dilson. Move Walker to first. Eric Campbell is not the answer.
  9. I'm not certain of anything and I am not ready to put Wright out to pasture. But my worry (posted in the worries here thread) is that he's done. This particular thread calls for a prediction, and as such, I predicted. Largely based upon my worry. And yes, I base my prediction partly on what he looks like out there. I realize every player slumps. I think Bryce Harper is mired in a terrible slump right now. But fearing he may be done (23 years old, healthy) would be silly. I don't think it's silly at all to worry that Wright (10 years older, degenerative back condition) might be done.
  10. I'm all for bunting against the shift. But how about taking the ball the other way? Even just by trying to go the other way maybe you get them to reposition a bit. I don't know. I'm sure it's harder than it looks. I can't even hit a golf ball that's sitting still the direction I want it to go.
  11. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I should create a poll to help us decide which of the two is creepier. In looks or in action? Geraldo may look like a deviant, but to my knowledge, has never been guilty of criminally negligent homicide against children and puppies.
  12. You know, reading through that old thread again, it looks like we all thought he was unlucky last year, and we are thinking the same thing this year. I understand that the low BABIP suggests bad luck. But is it really? I mean, if he hits the ball to the same side of the field every time (which it seems he does) and it's the same side that all the fielders are standing on (which it almost is) then shouldn't we expect that his BABIP would be lower than pure chance would suggest? I don't know the answer. Just thinking out loud.
  13. You're not referring to the guy with the electrified swimming pool, are you? That's just silly. I meant this one:
  14. batmagadanleadoff wrote: He's 35 years old. He should be declining. And if you think last year was an outlier, as you write, then he should be worse than he was in 2014. Sorry. Should have been more clear. I'm trying to reverse-jinx myself and propel Curtis into a hot streak. I do think 2015 will be an outlier though. I'm hoping he ends up in the high .700's, with about 23-25 HR's and a good OBP.
  15. I have the same vote. 2017. I think this year will be pretty unsuccessful. I think in the winter of 2016-2017 they will try a new routine, or some other strengthening exercise that they will hope make 2017 a different story. It won't be. I think within a year from now, we'll all be rooting for him to sit out long periods of time so the Mets can recoup insurance money, and by the end of 2017 David's pride will cause him to retire rather than look foolish for the remainder of his contract. But that is a lot of money for David to walk away from. How does the insurance work? Can David just sit on the 60 day DL until 2020 and collect his money while the Mets collect a portion of it from insurance?
  16. I understand. Plus a non-DL injury to Matz that required us to carry another pitcher for the short term. Still, for me, there's nothing more disheartening than to see someone get on base (which is rare these days) and see Eric Campbell stroll to the plate. I'm done with this assclown. Let's got get Rivera.
  17. Sure. It's never anyone's plan to start the 25th man, but with injuries being part of a game, it's absolutely foreseeable that the 25th man will get his share of playing time. Plus, it's been 48 hours since Duda's back acted up. They knew that Campbell was going to get significant time. They had a chance to bring in a better hitter for this series and chose not to act on it.
  18. I think Reynolds will be too. And if he falters, maybe Cecchini gets his chance later this year. I also think looking ahead to next year, they are thinking to form the left side of the IF with some combination of Cabrera/Wright and Flores/Cecchini/Reynolds.
  19. Seven days is a long time, and we are giving away at-bats to a guy with a .576 OPS. TJ Rivera's hot streak may not last long, but why not try to catch some of that lightning while it lasts? Call him up. Give him a chance at forging the TJ Rivera Game.
  20. I worry that David Wright, one of my favorite Mets of all time, is shot.
  21. I don't know if any of you guys have noticed (by the lack of hate-filled threads, I would guess you haven't) but Curtis Granderson sucks again. .205 batting average, no stolen bases. After an outlier year in 2015, Curtis has reverted back to the low .700's in OPS, just like he was in the two years prior. Sure, it was mid-May last year when Curtis took off and turned his season around. It was, if I remember, on the same day that I started a certain thread about him. And sure, even in his down year in 2014, he had good months in May and June. But that absolutely positively will not happen again. No chance. There is zero chance that Curtis Granderson will hit 2 HR's off Strasburg tonight and propel himself into the fringes of MVP discussion by year's end. Not gonna happen.
  22. Ok. So if the off-season strategy was to create a deeper bench so that we don't give away significant at-bats to the likes of Eric Campbell, why has he started 7 of the last 10 games? GET THAT PIECE OF CRAP CAMPBELL OFF MY TEAM NOW!!!! [/scapegoat] On a more serious note, if the tool that Campbell brought to the table was versatility, that becomes less critical now with Reynolds on the roster. Isn't it time for a hitter? TJ Rivera and Ty Kelly are just tearing it up. And then there's this guy Dilson Herrera. I get that making a move risks losing Campbell for good, but really, would anyone be broken up over this?
  23. It's been a shit week of baseball. Noah helped mask it but this team has sucked offensively all week. Need a 12 run inning here.
  24. This team is fucking irritating this week.
  25. Someone give Harvey roids so we can rest him for 80 games.
