  1. For the record, mine above aren't supposed to be jokes. These are things I can legitimately hear Brodie saying in December.
  2. Barring a miracle, the Mets will likely fall short again in 2019. They are 15 games back of the Braves, and never really contended for the division. The have the 15th best offense in MLB, the 7th best starting staff, and the 27th best bullpen. They are 7th in the NL in terms of run differential. But because they will fall just a handful of games short of the second wild card, my guess is we get excuses instead of effort this offseason. My predictions: "We've already added offense. When Cespedes comes back, we expect him to return to MVP form." "Part of the motivation for adding Stroman at the deadline was with the idea that Zack might leave this winter. So effectively, we've already replaced Zack Wheeler..." "Something something Diaz, something something flaw in his delivery, bla blah mechanical issue, bla blah bounce back to form in 2020." "If you look at Cano's numbers in the second half..." "Familia was bothered by the Bennet Lesion all season. With a full winter of rest, he'll be completely healthy by spring training."
  3. And with the soft schedule you'd have to think the September record improves. I think they have one more run in them, which I hope will be fun. But ultimately they'll fall short by a few games. And instead of seeing the energy this fan base had for a few weeks and doing the right thing, the Wilpons and Brodie will use this second half push as justification for not doing much this offseason.

First sign of trouble you pull him. Seems obvious to me. Even stealing one more out from his arm would have mattered. I'm not sure why any manager would lift him there. Because he's a fucking idiot.

Best, Young Young Choi New York Mets 718-559-3027 / ychoi@nymets.com Young Choi - updated signature - 2019 - seaver way my linkedin profile - Young Choi My Korean isn't so hot. So I popped it into Google Translate. I figured it would be more or less similar to what was written in English. It was not! Hi. Ryu Hyun-jin and fans of New York Mets I am Young Choi and I work at New York Mets. This Saturday, September 14th, Ryu will host the 2019 Korea Night at Citi Field event along with Ryu Hyun-jin and Jacob Digrom. Koreans and baseball fans will leave more than 20% discount tickets and official links to participate in the event. So, I get that Google Translate may not be perfect, but so...many....questions... Is this email really addressed to Ryu? Why would he get this email if, in fact, he is hosting this event? Is a Los Angeles Dodger really hosting an event at Citifield? Why wouldn't they put the 20% off in both languages? Do they mean to exclude Korean Americans who can't read Korean? What if I'm both Korean and a baseball fan. Do I get 40% off?
  6. If only we had such an owner.
  7. The Wilpons don't care. Or don't care to stand up to MLB. Which is why this goes no where.
  8. What a great series. Can't wait to watch the replay tonight. Tomorrow night's game. MUST WIN.
  9. My god these Marlins are worthless. They lost 7 straight to the Brewers and Nats. Of course I'm sure they'll start hitting the minute they arrive at Citi later this month.
  10. Hey Marlins. Can you win a fucking game please? Thanks.
  11. https://twitter.com/SNYtv/status/1172214818473938946 His voice literally cracked. https://psmag.com/.image/t_share/MTI3NTgyMTgxNTAwNDQ4NzM4/dean-scream.jpg> Awesome HR call!
  12. Is Juan our longest tenured Met? He's gotta be no?
  13. Dear Juan Lagares. Please don't break Gary Cohen. Thanks. CF.
  14. =41Forever post_id=21585 time=1568237098 user_id=69] =Ceetar post_id=21572 time=1568232186 user_id=102] I'm anti-hats anyway, so that works for me. Particularly the NYPD ones.
  15. They should wear the hats.
  16. Good analysis. Basically, at some point we're going to have to rip off 7-8 in a row. Do they have that in them? We'll see. Rox-Reds-Marlins is a nice stretch for a winning streak. Hopefully we don't go 0-5 before we get there.
  17. Three games out. Are we...back in it? If nothing else, this season has to make one re-think the idea of a "must win". Starting with the Sunday game of the Braves series, I called each game a "must win", then watched them lose four more games. I said the Sunday night game in Philadelphia was a must win, and that last Sunday's game was a must win. But now here we are with two more "must wins" to close out the Diamondbacks series. By definition, if you lose a "must win", the remaining games are supposed to be irrelevant no?
  18. Justin Turner is lazy and doesn't hustle. Ike Davis parties too late. Matt Harvey is a head case and parties late with models. Wilmer Flores has arthritis. All of this comes out as the players are into their arbitration years and nearing free agency. Yup.
  19. I'll be going to Mets-Reds at Great American Ballpark on September 21. I suspect that our faint hopes will be dead by then, but I'm looking forward to it nonetheless. The four of us will be meeting my brother, his wife, and his wife's mother. It will be our first time seeing a ball game with her and we're excited. Our first trip to Cincinnati. I hear they have riverboats and stuff.
  20. The "win out" part of the season started yesterday. But yes, no more losing.
  21. Don't underestimate the bunt here for McNeil.
  22. Edgy MD wrote: While I completely agree LL teams shouldn't share the names and logos and such of big league teams, once the money's on the table, things go to shit. Really? Never remember an issue in my home town. Here in Manhattan, some of the teams are sponsored, some are not. The ones that are just have a line added to the back of their jersey: "Sponsored by Cohen Orthodontics LLP".
  23. This reminds me of a conversation I had with my son when he was little. He said if he got drafted by the Yankees, would I stop going to his games? Or would I go to the games and root against him? I told him if he ever ended up on the Yankees, I'd go to each game and root my heart out for him and them. Pride, pinstripes, all that bullshit. He seemed kinda surprised, but somewhat relieved that his father wouldn't hate him if he became a Yankee. Then he followed up. "Dad, what if I went to the Braves, would you do the Tomahawk Chop?" Let's not push things buddy.
  24. Wow. So, I'm gonna be Debbie Downer here and say that this coach is kinda out of line. Maybe there aren't many Yankee fans in that area, but chances are there was at least one 10 year old who was thrilled at getting to play on the Yankees. And now because of the fandom of his middle-aged coach, he doesn't get to enjoy it. Baseball, especially 10U baseball, is for the kids. So if you're a dude who can't put his fandom aside to make the experience fun for the kids, then pass the scorebook to someone who can. Little League is a great time to teach kids that people root for different teams and can do so without being douchebags to each other. That being said, I'm completely with ceetar. I think Little League should stay away from naming their teams after MLB clubs for this very reason. I love the idea of taking on Japanese clubs. What a fun idea. My son's little league never had MLB teams. Since he started, they've always had animal names (Cobras, Jaguars, Ravens etc.) But my daughter, three years younger, has only been on teams named after MLB clubs. She was on the Yankees once. We survived.
  25. I think this is a great idea.
