  1. I never understood the Alex Rodriguez redemption. I've had the misfortune of listening to him as a broadcaster and didn't like anything he had to say. I also don't understand the Jeter vs. A-Rod debate. A smart person should come to the conclusion that they both suck.
  2. Peterson looked nasty against Harper there.
  3. If Jacob deGrom plays for any team other than the Mets I will throw up non-stop until he retires.
  4. MFS62 is right. If the worst consequence of the Madoff fraud was that your favorite team couldn't afford players, consider yourself lucky. He hurt a lot of good people. May he rot in hell.

  6. Carlos Beltran - Zack Wheeler - Isaiah Green (compensation pick for Wheeler leaving) - Francisco Lindor. Valid?
  7. =Fman99 post_id=60461 time=1618237880 user_id=86] Man, that gets me every time I read it.
  8. GKR sound embarrassed to take the win. I kinda am too. But to be honest, that McNeil bomb was so good it should be worth 2 runs alone.
  9. Dom sucks. Let's sit him again.
  10. I really hope we don't have to play the “Find logical explanations for dumb shit Rojas does” game all season.
  11. Someone tell Luis he doesn't have to listen to those in game texts from Jeff anymore.
  12. The Mets should do this too and wear uniforms with the official NYC colors. Can you imagine? The Mets wearing blue and orange.
  13. Imagine not winning over the fanbase when you follow Mickey Callaway. I don't have all the data on this, but I will die on the hill that everything Brodie Van Wagenen did sucks except the one time he blasted Manfred by accident.
  14. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=59724 time=1617719721 user_id=68] =batmagadanleadoff post_id=59721 time=1617719526 user_id=68] I wonder if part of the problem the Mets have been having with deGrom's starts during his period of domination is that deGrom's stuff is so awesome that by comparison, deGrom's replacements' stuff looks like beach balls.
  15. At least re: lineup construction/"explanations" that make me want to scream at someone, anyone, everyone... he definitely has that Young Jerry Manuel smell about him Young Jerry Manuel would have let Brian O'Nora hear it and gotten tossed from this game.
  16. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I was as dismayed as everyone else when deGrom was pulled, but I'm not sure it's why the Mets lost. I had expected that deGrom would pitch the 7th and that Rojas would go to May for the 8th. If that was going to be the case, then Castro's scoreless inning just replaced deGrom's scoreless inning, and the implosion would have happened anyway. However, if deGrom could have gone 8 innings (and he really might have been able to) then that's a different story entirely. Rojas definitely did screw up. But the screwups by May and Loup were what really responsible for the loss. I don't think the decision to pull deGrom alone was what cost the game. There were just so many mistakes. By my count: g t 1. The decision to sit Dom in favor of Pillar. Dom was our best hitter last year, and is better against lefties against Pillar. Pillar also had bad numbers against Moore. 2. If you're going to play Pillar for defense, play Dom anyway and sit Nimmo. I like Nimmo a lot as a player, but Dom is better. 3. And certainly don't put Pillar at leadoff. This is dumb. This is the old "our CF hits leadoff cuz he's fast" philosophy. 4. Argue balls/strikes. The first call to Lindor was atrocious. It kept going from there. He also squeezed deGrom, especially on his AB to Harper. Get on him. If he keeps it up, get thrown out. This is one of the main things a manager is supposed to do. 5. PH Dom for Pillar in the 4th. Of course this is an issue because not only did you play Pillar, you batted him leadoff. PH with Dom and blow the game open. You still have Almora for defense later. 6. Leave Jake in the game. Duh. Maybe his pitch count wouldn't even be 77 if you barked a bit at the ump. 7. Leave Castro in the game. Looked sharp. No need to go to the "8th inning team" just because you want to show off your fancy new bullpen. 8. Lucchesi over Loup. First of all, he's the better pitcher. Secondly, he's better equipped to face the righties behind Harper. That righty, of course, singled to tie the game. 9. All of this leads to the game being tied with only one out when Guillorme throws home. He tries to put too much on it, which causes it to sail a bit. Which normally wouldn't be an issue except... 10. Terrible footwork by McCann at the plate. Gotta make sure of one there. If he fields that like a 1B, we get the out, and the next ball is an F9. Of course, he's thinking two as well. Rushes to meet the throw and is not in a position to stretch properly. All this and we were still a few feet from taking the lead in the 9th. Fire the manager. Score some runs. Win tonight.
  17. How many times did our guys walk away shaking their heads? Even Nimmo gave a sourpuss face. All those calls matter. Even just driving up the pitch count for Jake. This is managerial malpractice.
  18. Our ace was getting squeezed. Their guy was getting 3-4 inches off the plate on both sides. The first time it happens you bark a little. If it keeps happening you get yourself thrown out. Maybe it does little to change the result, but if the ump is going to squeeze you at least let him know you're not happy.
  19. Frayed Knot wrote: I thought that muff was at least as much on McCann as on Luis, if not more. But everything that could have gone wrong in the 8th there did. It was no one thing. It's on McCann. Catchable ball.
  20. Didn't impress me at all last year. Fucked up game 1 badly. Didn't start Dom. Pulled deGrom too early. Pulled Castro too early. Loup over Lucchesi. Formula over hot hand. I've seen enough. Let's get Beltran.
  21. Radical rule change. When deGrom gets pulled the game is over.
  22. Everyone in the park knew the high fastball was coming. Even Harper. It didn't matter.
  23. Luis Rojas should be thrown out of this game. Can't let that ump keep doing that.
