  1. =Fman99 post_id=59526 time=1617668849 user_id=86] Awful lineup choice to start the season. C'mon man.
  2. JD. Let Lindor take that going forward.
  3. The Mets offer is fair. I hope he signs too.
  4. Edgy MD wrote: Here's one that's not so wild-assed and is, in fact, kind of intuitive: If you get hit with ball four, you get two bases, with runners advancing as forced. Also, relatedly, if you get hit in your body armor (apart from your head), no base for you. Similar to this. If you get hit by a pitch within 6” of the strike zone, no base.
  5. Topless girls means top of the inning. Bottomless girls for the bottom. It can be something dads teach to their kids the first time they visit the ballpark. Good family fun.
  6. Hopefully Alderson found some gems. The BVW crew is not great. Of course Alderson wasn't great with relievers the first time around.
  7. =smg58 post_id=57346 time=1614866410 user_id=62] Bradley goes to Milwaukee for 2 and 24. It's an interesting spot given the presence of Lorenzo Cain, but he wound up doing all right for himself despite waiting till March.
  8. So I saw this on TV and retract my statement. Patch is perfect.
  9. See you in ‘22. No way they call this kid up early and lose a year of service time.
  10. That patch is huge.
  11. It largely depends on if McCann's improvements at pitch framing and hitting are for real or an illusion.

Which is surprising because usually talking politics online is so productive. I'm blocked by Stroman, which is odd because I've been very positive about him, and I avoid anything Bauer posts.
  13. Agreed. Stro and maybe McCann are still here. No Lindor or Carrasco. But I think we would have traded a higher ranked prospect for someone. Never going all in, never committing to youth.

  15. Benny Agbayani. 1999 DHM? .888 OPS. 14 HR.
  16. I'm going with Yenssy Díaz. He's better than Matz!
  17. Outspoken and thin skinned usually doesn't end well.
  18. If I had to guess, I would bet Cohen thinks Sandy misplayed his hands and is secretly a little annoyed at the mixed bag this offseason. But he is a professional, has and will continue to defer to Sandy until he sees the results on the field.
  19. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I'm going to officially nominate Yoenis Cespedes for 2015, and Centerfield can determine (in consultation with the home office in Stockholm, of course) whether or not he's eligible. I'd be disinclined to include mid-year trades of stars. I think the spirit of DHM, and part of what makes it fun, is that no one was expecting anything of these guys when they arrived then performed beyond all of our expectations. Like “wow, can you believe this guy? Who would have thought ____ had this in him?” The minute Yo arrived, we expected greatness. On the other hand, if we trade for Joe Replacement and he hits 30 HRs in August and September, I think that would be ok.
  20. It's funny that Walker is being compared to Bauer. They have similar career numbers, though Walker has an injury history. Both had 11 great starts in 2020 with peripherals suggesting that they were a bit lucky. Bauer's stretch was better, and Walker has never had a complete season as good as Bauer's 2018. But he comes at a fraction of the cost. They have the best pitcher in baseball at 1. Currently two and eventually three guys who can pitch at a number 2 level. The others will make a strong 3 and 4. Walker at 4, eventually five, and Peterson, Lucchesi and Dark Horse Darling Yamamoto. This is right up there as potentially one of the best rotations in baseball. Ok. Now no one get hurt.
  21. Taco time! Call me an http://thecranepool.net/phpBB32/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=30066early adopter. on a more serious note, i was hoping, given the options remaining on the table, that they would go after either walker or odorizzi. so i'm pretty cool with this move. Same. I do wonder what they saw in Odorizzi, since he seemed to be the one player this offseason they were never even rumored to be "in on." Oh man. Sorry. Completely missed your thread.
  22. Mets have a deal with Walker. No details yet. Seems like he's not a frontline guy. But has upside. Better than Matz!
  23. Edgy MD wrote: I'd like us to go through past years and nominate candidates for the years Centerfield hasn't yet designated a winner. Final honoree is his call, of course. For 2017, I'll nominate ... T.J. Rivera Don't just nominate, make your case! Also, I don't make the final call on the honoree. Everyone knows those kinds of decisions are made in Stockholm.
  24. Lefty Specialist wrote: Luis Guillorme. His hitting will catch up to his fielding. Sorry Lefty. The judges have ruled that Luis Guillorme and his .865 OPS in 2020 disqualifies him from this contest.
  25. =seawolf17 post_id=56347 time=1613654201 user_id=91] I'm going to go with Jordan Yamamoto. Ooh, lordy, he was terrible in four appearances last year, but hey, you take out the game where he gave up thirteen runs, his ERA was only 11.42. (!) He's young, strikes guys out, and I don't think anyone's expecting much of anything from him this year. But he'll be needed, and he'll get 12-15 starts over the summer and surprise all of us.
