  1. Stop trying to pull the ball against Fried.
  2. Deep breaths. Keep telling yourself that no matter what happens, the Mets are in the playoffs.
  3. I was in such a bad mood. Down 4-0 and the Nats had allowed Atlanta to tie. I was certain they'd lose. So ecstatic afterwards. It must seem so strange to non-sports fans how drastically we are affected by these games.
  4. Benjamin Grimm wrote: And I suspect that that's probably the most likely outcome. (Mets winning one of three.) Why so? Max Fried is tough, but we have our top three lined up.

Advantage Mets -- if the Mets win two games vs ATL then they clinch with a single NYM win and/or ATL loss in the final series [fix't] THIS is the big advantage that tonight's reversal of fortune earned us. -- and if the Mets sweep all three in Georgia then obviously that's a clinch too. Basically there only one scenario (Mets win 1 game) where there is any chance that either team can realistically take it. All other outcomes the division is basically over.
  6. With the tiebreaker, does a win in Atlanta cut the magic number by three?
  7. Frayed Knot wrote: I understood about half of what E.E. just said ... but I agree with all of it. Lol. Same.
  8. The Eduardo Escobar Game.
  9. They look like shit. Even shittier than last night if that's possible.
  10. This team looks lifeless. Can't lose 3 of 4 to the A's and Marlins. Awful.
  11. Were the outfielders getting bad jumps? Balls with a lot of hang time and not hit very hard were falling in all night.
  12. At least put up a fight you losers.
  13. Putting aside Tie Breakers for a moment... If the Mets go 7-4 over their last 11, they finish at 102-60. To tie them, the Braves would have to go 9-3 over their last 12 to tie. I can see both of these happening. If the Mets go 6-5 over their last 11, the Braves would need to go 8-4 to tie. Given that the Braves has 6 games remaining against the Nats and Marlins, 8-4 seems almost a given. I think this weekend's series represents the last chance for the Mets to get some separation. Go Phils!
  14. 2-0 Braves now. It seems pretty clear that no one is going to beat the Braves unless we do it ourselves. Anyway, win today first.
  15. Hard to reconcile those pics of Stearns at OTD actually being him. Even when he was coaching he seemed like the toughest dude on the field. Great guy. Glad he got to wear the uniform one last time.
  16. Pretty sure they've already engraved his trophy.
  17. Let's keep trying to pull everything and rolling it over.
  18. I'm pretty sure that we've been shit since NHOP returned.
  19. Our DHs are our worst hitters. They hit 5th. McNeil is our best hitter. He hits 6th. SMH.
  20. Hard to believe this is the same team we watched all year. Been a completely different team since game 2 of that Nationals series.
  21. Fuck these guys. Gutless.
  22. They've been shit for the last ten days.
  23. Kinda like what going on in this country right now, the short term profits were too much to resist for those in power. By bastardizing the record, they ruined the very thing that made it so special.
  24. Edgy MD wrote: That would be impressive. The Mets are going to have a lot of work in front of them this offseason just retaining (or not retaining) their own free agents. Agreed. Even just bringing back our current squad would be a minor miracle. I can't even imagine the asking price on Ohtani. It might actually be cheaper for Cohen to just buy the Angels.
