  1. This has been a real shit end to five months of great baseball.
  2. At the end of the day, if Scherzer and deGrom suck then this team is dead in the water. The team has played tight for a month. Moment got too big for them.
  3. Scherzer really coming up small in crunch time. Devastating.
  4. I'm not sure if honors go to Edgy or ashie. What's the rule when the thread starter falls asleep?
  5. Josh Hader wasn't having a great year before the trade, but has been worse since he got to SD. Hopefully that keeps up.
  6. =Gwreck post_id=110133 time=1665020640 user_id=56] Some interesting data regarding 2022 performance against playoff teams: The Mets (and Phillies) led the majors in games played against teams in the 2022 postseason, with 69. 2022 Records against postseason teams: Houston: 37-18, .673 Los Angeles: 29-19, .604 Seattle: 32-27, .542 New York: 37-32, .536 Atlanta: 33-31, .516 Yankees: 33-31, .516 Tampa: 29-31, .483 St. Louis: 22-24, .478 Cleveland: 19-21, .475 Toronto: 30-36, .455 Philadelphia: 29-40, .420 San Diego: 20-33, .378 (Yes, San Diego went 5-14 against the Dodgers. Excluding those games only brings them up to .441).
  7. James McCann and the Marlins. Assholes.
  8. Dodgers up 6-1 top 9. Unless Colorado mounts a 5 run rally, Freeman will finish the day 3-4 and McNeil is your batting champion.
  9. We're going to end up with 5 out of 6 NHO for these last 3 games. Infuriating.
  10. Why would Mattingly use a LH PH there?
  11. Edgy MD wrote: Braves come up empty in the top of the eighth. A.J. Minter comes on to face numbers 9, 1, and 2 in the Marlins' order. Oh really. That's interesting. I didn't know that because I have not been refreshing the Braves score non stop all night. Nope. Not me.
  12. =Methead post_id=109874 time=1664916437 user_id=61] You guys remember that stretch run in '99, when the Mets had to run the table and get help from other teams just to force a one-game playoff for the Wild Card spot? How fun and exciting that was? This... does not have that feel.
  13. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=109865 time=1664912191 user_id=68] How would they expect this to remain secret? Like with the Astros, eventually, 2022 Braves players will end up on other teams. Still, I don't rule this out.
  14. Edgy MD wrote: My wife, despite having far less knowledge of the context, has come to the same conclusion. So I did some digging. In the second half, the Braves are 20-16 in away games. (.560) They are 24-6 in home games (.800) I'm not saying they've set up an Astros-style sign stealing system at home, but they've definitely set up an Astros-style sign stealing system at home.
  15. Also, I've decided that the Braves are clearly cheating.
  16. I think I'm finally processing the disappointment from this weekend. All last week was frustrating, and it culminated with a soul-crushing sweep at the hands of our worst enemy. But we still host a playoff series starting Friday, and we have a legitimate World Series contender. Welcome to the Cohen era folks.
  17. I don't see any break in the rain. I think it's cool how the Braves are going to get swept by the Marlins and force the Mets to play a tripleheader on Thursday.
  18. deGrom just finished his age 34 season. How many dominant years do you think he has left? 2? Maybe 3? It will be interesting if Cohen is willing to pay him 5 years for 3 good ones.
  19. Ok. So Wild Card. It is what it is.
  20. I think we are never going to win again.
  21. Let's see Alvarez. 2 run Jack. Do it Buck.
  22. One more thought. I wonder if Megill is completely healthy. He looks nothing like the pitcher that started this year.
  23. Frayed Knot wrote: Well that was a disappointing night. It makes the double come-back games on Wednesday even Huge-r in retrospect. - JdG wasn't bad but wasn't good enough. Of course, we expect near perfection from him so we're destined to be disappointed occasionally. - I liked that Buck stuck with Alvarez in two important ABs. Neither worked but I still don't have a problem with the decision. - we can whine about the reliever choices but I'm not sure I'd have been happy w/Buck had we burned top relievers in a game we were only on the fringes of being in. May was fine (one AB) as was Joely. Megill was not but so it goes. The Braves, meanwhile, used McHugh, Minter, Iglesies and Jansen while we've got Diaz, Lugo, Smith, and Ottavino ready to go Sat & Sun - We NEED one game in this series while they need two so tonight essentially evened things out. - Gotta hit at some point And Jansen threw a lot of pitches. Gotta win tomorrow. Someday I'll stop letting 26 random men in blue and orange completely dictate my mood. But tonight is not that night.
  24. =Gwreck post_id=109340 time=1664590857 user_id=56] Down 3-1 in the 7th and Buck doesn't use any of his 4 best (6 best?) relievers. They'd better be available tomorrow and Sunday.
