  1. We liked the tour. We had been to the stadium many times, and had even been on the field for the Mr. Met dash, but we got to see lots we had not seen. The only thing I did not like was that in tour stops at the Delta Club and the Caesar's club, the guide talked up how great these places were without really letting you know that not everybody can just walk in. If you do the tour, while in the print press box, be sure to take a close look at the wall of fame of writers. Some of the older photos of guys who still write about the team are lol-funny.
  2. "Clemente Mendoza" Why not just name your kid Awesome Bad?
  3. Took the Citi Field tour yesterday. The first thing little Solo says to me as we walk into the Rotunda. looking up at the lineup from teh last game "Dad, they still have Alex Cora's baseball card up."
  4. I'm just shocked that he doesn't start every tweet with "Guys..."
  5. Tracksuit: Infielder Ruben Tejada and outfielder Fernando Martinez were scratched from the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons lineup about five minutes prior to game time tonight. It is not immediately clear if either player is set for a callup to the Mets or is involved in any other transaction. Indications are that neither has suffered an injury, but nothing could be confirmed. Both players remained in the Bisons dugout through the early innings.
  6. Sny reporting that FMart and Tejada were removed from the lineup at Buffalo minutes before game time. Minaya was asked about it and said something like "we'll see".
  7. One thing that caught my eye during the meltdown was that two balls were hit to center on which runners took the extra base. One was the Werth hit that Sweeney went to 3rd on, and the other was the hit that Werth scored on. Not sure if Pagan holds those runners, or if it would have made any difference in the outcome of the game, but maybe it's time to take a closer look at moving Carlos to one of the corners.
  8. My son just asked me if I hated the Mets. I told him no but that sometimes they make me really really mad.
  9. Niese labored through the first 2 1/3 then cruised through the 7th. Once again Jerry goes against the hot hand by looking at that godd%&&$m pitch count. You are allowed to go against the book once in a while, Jerry. Let us not forget though, and Gary and Keith sure reminded us enough, that Blanton has been just about the worst starter in the NL. We did nothing against him. Oh, and now we decide to put a couple of guys on base.
  10. Edgy, curious...why do you feel that an OF slot is close to set FMart for 2011. Or are you only considering who we have in the organization right now?
  11. Tom McCarthy actually did something really nice for one of Little Solo's best friends earlier this year, so he's probably a great guy and I'll always remember him for what he did. But, yeah, I wasn't sad when he left the NY booth. And he totally punted that call last night.
  12. But the problem I have with guys like Tracksuit writing this stuff is that it seems to imply that just having that attitude is what leads to the Phillies winning. Yet if the team exhibits this kind of mentality and then doesn't win, the MSM will be out there complaining about the loud-mouth Mets who talk a good game but don't back it up. The media was not kind to the Mets in 2007 when they perceived the team to be too showboat-ish.
  13. Todd Pratt?
  14. Some thoughts... Doug Brocail apparently brought his mother. The first radio guy may be married to a man. Not many meals are missed in the Lee house. Hunter Pence's "date" has to be an escort, right? Right? Pardon me, I'm off to Hell.
  15. Davey looked pretty damn good and rested the other day.
  16. They also wore white for games 3 and 5 of the 2000 WS. This year, at Citi, they are 6-1 in the black jerseys and caps. The only loss was yesterday. I've been keeping a record of their home uni choices all year to track how often each is worn, and how they do in them. Primarily because I don't like the black, and really want to see how often they wear it. Was going to post results at the end of the season...maybe I'll post what I've got so far tomorrow.
  17. I'll be with the family at Sunday's HOF cap day, up in the Promenade.
  18. He did reach base 4 out of 5 times up that day.
  19. Why do I continue to get fooled by thread titles like this one?
  20. Vince Coleman Firecracker wrote: ? The Braves traded away a 27 year old shortstop with a career .369 OBP, .776 OPS and .343 wOBA for a 33 year old shortstop with a career .295 OBP, .698 OPS and .299 wOBA. This is an "upgrade"? Alex Gonzalez sucks, and the Braves gave away a valuable piece to get him. I hope all the Braves' trades from now on are this kind of upgrade. But he's a winning player!!!
  21. I agree with Edgy 100%, but that was pre-Larussa, pre-Eck. Jesse and McDowell routinely went into games as early as the 7th inning all season, and pitched multiple innings on many occasions.
  22. I saw Bochy talking about it on SportsCenter. I think they took it from the Giants postgame show. He said, and I am paraphrasing, that "I brought to the umpires attention, and none of them had seen it, and I told them I was going to protest the game. Then they made the call, but none of that would have mattered if we hadn't gotten the hits, blah, blah, blah." The bold is my emphasis. Bochy said none of them had seen it, which I find hard to believe. All four umps would make a call based on a manager saying so? More likely, one of them saw it, was fuzzy on the rule, and relayed what he saw to another ump who had not seen it, but was clear on the rule. As someone mentioned up above, I always thought the foul line was the cut-off point.
  23. OK, I guessed and missed on Garrett earlier. But the 800+ games guy with 3 opening days clue sounds like him, so maybe I had the positions wrong. Wayne Garrett, 2B & 3B.
  24. Did Juan Samuel start [u:24jghwf1]any [/u:24jghwf1]opening days as a Met?
  25. Legacy guy David Segui? 1B and LF
