  1. Baseball due for a no-hitter today?
  2. Rojas's lack of understanding the rule about the interpreter mound visits bothered me. I know in the end it probably didn't make all that much of a difference, but felt like the Cardinals pulled one over on the Mets (and the umpires tbf) while our manager just sat there. Now, I had no idea what the rule was either, but Rojas certainly should have.
  3. Kenneth West certainly looks like he called Mike and the Mad Dog to settle a dispute between him and his buddies.
  4. I went with August 1. I might be overly optimistic but I am with FMan and still feel like they are going to try and play somehow. To play in 2020 July 1 feels too early, September 1 seems too late, so I split the difference. Let's say July 15 they open up with a TV only home run derby, then start playing games the following weekend.
  5. I watched an inning or so earlier (still can't escape Eduardo Perez) and from a broadcast standpoint the lack of spectators did not bother me at all. In fact, the lack of crowd shots was a good thing, I thought. I can only hear Keith commenting on a dad and daughter eating ice cream so many times.
  6. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Br9YzhWCQAAKv3n?format=png&name=360x360> If this was discussed previously I apologize. Last night I was watching the 1981 all star game on YouTube and the Mets lone representative got into the game pretty early, pinch-hitting for pitcher Fernando Valenzuela in the top of the second. I did a double take when I saw he was wearing a Braves helmet. Took a screen shot but didn't know how to post it here. But I did find an image on line that I'll post here. Anybody remember this/know the story behind it? Since it was the first game after the strike, maybe there was some issue getting equipment to Cleveland? A tangent to this is the fact that the night before the game the Browns played a Monday Night Game on the same field, and the field looked pretty good considering. With the lack of multi-purpose stadiums that would never happen today.
  7. I don't wanna see Mt. Met turned into a centaur. https://chumley.barstoolsports.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/09/Screen-Shot-2019-04-09-at-3.20.49-PM-1024x924.png> JRod will replace the 42 in the rotunda with this.
  8. I would bet more HS kids will go the college route without the certainty of a signing bonus.
  9. Thank you for this info. Good news indeed. Can't wait to read some old "you make the call" or whatever those umpire quizzes were called.
  10. https://a.espncdn.com/photo/2008/0929/page2_g_1986mets_600.jpg> The 86 Bat boys. Always thought it was weird they were so front and center in the celebration. Hard not to get caught in the moment I guess.
  11. Pete Harnisch as an Astro?

We're still missing a Group B Met: https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2020/03/screen-shot-2020-03-23-at-8.17.27-am.png> Get that and we can move on. I thought Frayed Knot got the group B Met with Tyler Clippard. Or is there somebody else?
  13. Its not Bourque. He won the Cup only after leaving Boston.
  14. Ruben Tejada was briefly a 2019 Met.
  15. Wayne Garrett, 11
  16. Cleon Jones - 6th
  17. Cohen for more. He'll get a larger % of the team, and the Wilpons won't stick around.
  18. Frayed Knot wrote: Managers will now have up to 20 seconds to challenge a replay instead of 30 Still 10 or 15 seconds too many ... but it's a start. Or at least it will be if they decide to, y'know, actually enforce the rule every now and then. And does it say anything about a change in the number of challenges or does Mattingly still get 8 per game? The whole challenge thing is ridiculous, when, if you are out of challenges, you can still nicely ask the umpires if they'll review it for you--and they do it!
  19. This is soooo Wilponian.
  20. Jeff. Always Jeff. https://nypost.com/2020/02/06/jeff-wilpons-power-play-derailed-mets-sale-to-steve-cohen/https://nypost.com/2020/02/06/jeff-wilpons-power-play-derailed-mets-sale-to-steve-cohen/
  21. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: OK.... Arenado for Cespedes and Smith Now this, I can get behind. A healthy Cespedes would put up some huge numbers there. But his contract is so low now, and is in its last year, I think, that I don't know if there is much benefit in moving him. Now, if they would take Cano, I'd personally drive him to Denver. Isn't Arenado the benefit?
  22. Wang and Tanaka both got hurt on the basepaths. But they were Yankees, so I laughed.
  23. Too many people in the Mets-fan-verse love to run with the narrative that Nimmo is "at best a 4th outfielder." I'm like, what the heck have you been watching? Somebody had a twitter post saying "Mets about to make a trade for Starling Marte that they'll regret in May"
  24. =Centerfield post_id=28143 time=1576086472 user_id=65] Brandon Nimmo Michael Conforto Carlos Beltran Armando Benitez Kevin McReynolds Good players. Seemingly good people. For some reason draw the ire of a large segments of the fan population for some reason. But everyone loves Joe Fucking McEwing.
  25. Hmm. If the five year thing is true (and I tend to think the timing could change, once the ball gets rolling), long-term contract negotiations would get interesting. If say next year, Brody wants to sign a guy for 5-6 years, does Cohen get a say?
