  1. Zeile was supposed to get some games in Rons absence. I guess it's him?
  2. Never saw it. All I know about this movie is that they filmed one scene in a bar in my old Bronx neighborhood.
  3. If a guy shows up the pitcher, then in his next AB, he gets one in his rear end, I think they're even. What I'm not sure in this case is whether Anderson was showing anybody up with the original flip. Looked like genuine emotion.
  4. Bud Harrelson Glove Genius! Yet they show a pic of him at bat? What is that about? I went with Doc. I remember buying that at the newstand when it came out.
  5. I was thinking that Rosario could probably use a day off too.
  6. Avilan? Should I just turn off the set now?
  7. Dom showing up the ump. Lucky he didn't get tossed
  8. Damn Juan, just slide and stay on the bag. What's the point of popping up like that? We get a gift and give it right back.
  9. First glance I had no idea that was Lauren Hutton. The Gooden cover at the time killed me because it came at a point where the realization that the division was out of reach hit me hard. I also realized that despite Doc's great second half, Sutcliffe was winning the CY; it also bothered the shit out of me that they posed for that pic in Wrigley, which was a Met house of horrors in '84. Went with Best Infield Ever, despite the presence of the all-blacks, which I hate.
  10. Connor McGregor is not just a raging asshole in the octagon and on the streets, he's also an asshole who sells whiskey.
  11. https://www.scoopnest.com/user/darrenrovell/573502217493344257-in-mid-80s-steve-garvey-amp-darryl-strawberry-used-wristbands-to-pitch-mcdonald-s-players-can-t-sell-space-todayhttps://www.scoopnest.com/user/darrenrovell/573502217493344257-in-mid-80s-steve-garvey-amp-darryl-strawberry-used-wristbands-to-pitch-mcdonald-s-players-can-t-sell-space-today It's Rovell, so who knows if it's true. But a semi-explanation of the wristband.
  12. I went with Straw. Nice close up. I mean , it's awesome Seaver won Sportsman of the Year, but that's not a very attractive cover. Poorly shaped home plate; dark green; Seaver's hat looks like it just came out from being tumble-dried.
  13. Nimmo is lost. I might have to warm up the “Brandon Nimmo Sucks 2019” thread. Those usually do the trick.
  14. If I visualize a HoJo atbat, that cover is what pops up in my head. It's second to Seaver, though.
  15. I actually was surprised he DIDN'T bunt Nimmo there. Brandon's looked lost at the plate, and he's one of the few guys on the team I believe can consistently get a bunt down if/when we need one.
  16. The freakin balls on that guy. To shout racist taunts with Doc, Darryl, Mookie, Mitch right there in the dugout?
  17. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Matz should be more like Tom Hausman and become a long reliever for the Milwaukee Brewers. Till then expect the same old Matz this year. 20 starts, 2 DL stints, a few 5-0 leads given away, a few 7-inning, 10-K, 2 hitters, lots of unearned deference for being from Long Island and the last of Omar's surviving draftees. Yup.
  18. Edgy MD wrote: "He is in New York right now for a physical." Have they not examined him throughout spring training? Maybe it's been too long, but I don't recall extensions of players already under contract to be dependent on a fizz. He really wanted to avoid that Syracuse workout.
  19. I went to SD on business about 8 years ago. Middle of January, but what I liked was you could access the left field corner (behind the fence behind the foul pole) via the team store in the ground floor of the Western Metal building. Also, I grabbed lunch and was able to sit on a bench behind the CF fence where the old sandbox used to be. The area behind CF was a public park that was only closed off during games. They also used to show road games on a big screen in that park.
  20. I don't really like any of these (though BD does have me wondering what the ten biggest outs in baseball history were). Sport at least seems to be trying here, so I'll give them the nod for effort.
  21. The Seaver cover to me is a little too busy; I do like the photo. The Kooz cover is kinda blah, but I do love the Shea backdrop. Don't love the New Yorker one. I'm going with Straw, with Kooz a close second.
  22. I like Keith and Wil.
  23. I'm no pro athlete, but my CPAP machine has been life-altering.
  24. =seawolf17 post_id=3820 time=1551803450 user_id=91] It's odd that she'll continue to work for ESPN also, but if she has valuable insight, by all means, bring her on.
  25. I'd probably have more of an opinion if I were sure what she's going to do. Says she'll help in “areas of player evaluation, roster construction, technological advancement and health and performance.” Oh well, good luck. It's not like we can't use a fresh perspective.
