  2. Edgy MD wrote: Yeah, that one too. The Dodgers are starting somebody named "Dustin May." I have no idea who that is, but I was always taught that dust in May meant it would be a hard year for the crops. He's Gingergaard, man. https://a.espncdn.com/photo/2019/0803/r578695_608x342_16-9.jpg>
  3. I like Player's Weekend but hate the black and white.
  4. According to Wayne and Howie, Pete has tied Lucas Duda for the single-season Citi Field HR mark with 19.
  5. Apparently Jim Breuer is back making videos if that's your thing. It's not mine.

Crowd should be good; I was surprised how loud and how full the stadium felt for a 4:10 first pitch yesterday. Also you should be happy that my kid and his Mets buddies have run with the SHaMs name.
  7. Thanks to a survey on the interwebs (probably--likely--a means to get her to download some app) Mama Solo scored two freebies to tomorrow's DH. Not-so-Little Solo and I will be partaking from section 126.
  8. Freaking outs on basepaths and freaking Matz
  9. Well the good news is I went away and the Mets went on an absolute tear. The bad news is ... I'm home.
  10. A lot of driving yesterday so I caught a lot of this in the car. Not sure why this drove me so crazy, but the pre-game host (not sure who, but it wasn't Randazzo I don't think) said on multiple occasions that the Mets were looking for a win to take 3 out of 4 in the series. How do you get that wrong, then repeat it, and no one (hello producer, are you there???) corrects him? Then to make matters worse, I get Wayne and some guy who's Not Howie calling the game. With the Mets futility yesterday, Howie would have been a great listen. Disgusted Howie is a good Howie.
  11. I went with Vargas. In a lot of cases there's pressure to "win" the deal for the fan base. In this instance I think most of the fan base doesnt' care if they ever see Vargas in a Met uniform again, so less urgency to sell the deal as a win to the fans. Plus I think there's some residual distaste over the whole locker room thing in Wrigley. I agree with the second half of that - I think he's halfway out of town already. But I don't think the front office gives a rat's ass about "winning" trades, for themselves or anyone else, except financially. The first team willing to absorb the rest of his deal will get him for a low-level relief pitcher. Oh, I do believe this front office cares about the visual of "losing" another deal after the pounding they've taken over the Seattle trade.

  13. =metirish post_id=15329 time=1562589083 user_id=72] I never watched MFY games, unless playing against the Mets, but is Girardi a great in game manager as articles have suggested?
  14. I'll be that guy and say I really don't get how the New Yorker covers do so well in this contest.
  15. He won't get canned with this weekend coming will he? Does he make it to Yankees series? And WTF are we going to do about Diaz? What an absolute disaster of a trade, and of a series. The Phillies on Monday were deader than we are right now, and we let them beat us four streat.
  16. The site is really cool, despite the Murphy Mistake.
  17. Frayed Knot wrote: That ruler goes to thirteen. Because the Mets give an extra measure in courtesy, service, and comfort.
  18. I generally try to be patient but I'm ready for a new skipper.
  19. Toronto and half-Montreal should make for a nice regional, divisional rivalry.
  20. =41Forever post_id=13666 time=1561056290 user_id=69] This seems like A) a move for leverage to get a new stadium in St. Pete, and If serious, a really sucky plan for players.
  21. It's 6-0 now and still bottom first
  22. Edgy MD wrote: McCann is a classick red-ass catcher, isn't he? Speaking of red recti (Is that the plural of rectum?), one of my co-workers spotted Paul O'Neill in a CVS pharmacy today. My co-worker is a Mets fan, but admitted to me he was't quick enough to ask Paul if he was there to pick up steroids. Later Probably would have been bad timing, as O'Neill's sister, the food-critic writer Molly O'Neill, just passed away the other day.
  23. The two losses last Thursday into Friday pushed me close to give-up status.
  24. Dazzy Vance Wilson
