Everybody loves Frank. Well, maybe not Rod Gaspar.
  3. FAN just reported that Game 1 will in fact be Wed. at 4:09. Game 2 Thurs. at 8:19. The Yankees will have prime time games on Tues., Wed., the Thurs. What a shock. (rolls eyes)
  4. No matter what was said or done by Milledge, this was not the right way, nor the right time, to address the issue. If you are a veteran and have a problem with a rookie, go face to face with him, or else get a few other veterans and ask all of them to have a sit-down with the rookie. To me this was a pretty gutless thing to do, and a needless distraction to a team about to start the postseason in a couple of days. To the veteran who wrote the note I would say: "Know your priorities. The playoffs start in three days."
  5. Anybody hear anything about Trax's trip home? I know "personal reasons" is the stated reason...but is there concern that he might not make a start?

I've heard that one several times but never any reasons given,Gary has nothing but good things to say about Bob when he talks about him on air. I've heard that Cohen took issue with Murph's smoking in the booth. Beyond that, I don't know how frosty their relationship was.
  7. I like Gary and all, but my postseason would not have been marred if I don't hear him calling a Mets game.
  8. Success by Heilman would not be unexpected, at least not by me.
  9. Is June 11-13 the LA Dodgers or LA Angels?
  10. Don't remember all the numbers, but the White Sox were pretty dismal the last 40 or so games last year, leading to speculation they would either: a) be bypassed by Cleveland, or be eliminated in the playoffs by the more "postseason tested" Red Sox, MFYs, or Angels. And we all know how that turned out.
  11. The number of times Willie has been passed over is legendary. But I guess I didn't realize that Minaya had been looked at and bypassed so many times.
  12. Three thoughts: did this have anything to do with his release? He was mysteriously cut the day after he hit third in the batting order. And, probation, community service and a small fine for choking and beating the crap out of a young woman? That's an extremely generous sentence. And, finally, "sobriety is tough"? Okay, Mr. Young, the court advises you to go back on the sauce to make everything better.
  13. Who, me or Ron?
  14. Ron Darling, hopeless romantic... http://insideweddings.com/real-weddings/9/thats-amore/
  15. I predict that Florida, who already had to see the Mets celebrate on the field, will be pretty feisty against the Phillies this weekend.
  16. Somewhat lost amid the worry about Pedro's health and the media-driven "Trachsel or Maine in game 4" issue is this: when the Hell is Glavine going to get his act together? We're waiting Tom. Feel free to cowboy up.
  17. Was Benito Santiago ever a Met? I don't remember him from last year? Did he come to spring training or something? And I'm fairly certain Allen Watson's Met days were over long before 2004. Or maybe I should just ignore this message.
  18. Do the Mets really have defensive assets all over the field?
  19. How about them Tigers exacting some revenge for Lerrin Legrow.

Did I read somewhere, maybe this forum, that it's Charlie Samuels' call on what uniforms to wear for each game? Yes, some teams its the Starting Pitcher, but for the Mets its Charlie's call Curious, why is it his decision?
  21. In 2000, they wore white unis when Agbayani hit the HR against the Giants, so they didn't wear black in every game. They also wore white in WS games 3 and 5, IIRC.

SteveJRogers wrote: BTW, first time since 1973 that the Mets will have home field in the NLCS, obviously first time the Mets shall ever have home field in the NLDS! 69-93 both NLCS and ALCS had the same alternating crap that the World Series still had up to 2002, that was re-set when instead of a 5 game 2-3 series it turned into a 7 game 2-3-2 series in 1985, both 1969 and 1985 kicked off with the NL East having home field. The Mets were supposed to have home field for the 1986 LCS. Remember that the Dogders had home field for the 85 LCS, so the East winner should have had home field the following year. But because of the Oilers (remember them?) having a home game that weekend, the league was forced to switch games 1 and 2 to the Dome. I know I wasn't the only one upset about this.

  24. Both teams were running away with their divisions by July 1. Both teams had a starter whose last team was the Red Sox.(Ojeda/Pedro) Both teams had an opening day outfielder who was shipped out by the end of the season. (Foster/Nady) Both teams brought back one-time Mets for the stretch run (Maz/Bert). Both teams caused Jay Horwitz to fret.
