  1. Also noticed that the rosters in the program don't include who hits left/right. Just name and number.
  2. How about instead of whining you don't get picked off first on a terrible play, Mr. "People-don't-realize-how-good-of-a-baserunner-he-is" Pujols.
  3. The crowd was great for last night's game. I will also give props to either the city or the Mets...whoever was responsible for parking. We arrived near Shea at 7, and followed signs to alternate Shea parking, wound up out past the unisphere, parked on a makeshift lot ($18), then a shuttle bus to the LIRR station and a short walk to the stadium, and we were in our seats by 7:30. I'd still recommend arriving early, but they seem better organized this year as opposed to years past. Oh, and attending last night reminded me of a great feeling at Shea: looking at the out of town scoreboard, and having it blank.
  4. Have you tried StubHub? I've never used them, but isn't that what they're in business for?
  5. My personal feeling is that it's better to know you're going on 3 days' rest before the first start, so that you can prepare accordingly. It's much worse to find out you're going on 3 days rest in between starts, messing with preparations.
  6. Do you listen to the FAN online? Because the online stream has different sponsors, I believe. And not many of them. That's why you hear the "greatest sports moments" ad infinitum. While we're on the subject, and I do listen to their online stream wayyy too often, I can't stand two of those "greatest sports moment" commercials. First, I hate the guy who brings up Mantle in the 1960 series. Typical MFY fan, taking a great alltime moment and making it about the Yankees. And, you're team has won 26 World Series, and the best moment you can come up with is Mickey breaking up a double play? And the other one is the guy doing the Rizzuto impersonation. It's just not that good of an impression. It's well-written, just not executed well.
  7. It would be interesting to see if Keith, with a late inning lead, would guard the line with Keith at the plate.
  8. A friend suggests that the forecast for Detroit on Friday is poor (I have no idea if this is accurate or not), and that they will hold off on the decision until later today to see if they have a clearer picture of what tomorrow night's weather will be in the Motor City. The thought being that they want to insure that there's a prime time game, and if they announce the Met starting time as an afternoon game and then the Tigers are rained out, FOX is left to show reruns of Bones. Just make a decision, dammit.
  9. i was under the assumption that it would be Friday afternoon because the travel day would be lost, and they would not play Friday night, travel, then play Saturday night. Similar to the Yankees last week playing thursday afternoon, then traveling and playing in Detroit on Friday night. I was more concerned about whether it would be at 1 or 4...there are work scheduling issues to deal with.
  10. I have tix for Game 2. Anybody know when they'd play on Friday in the event of a rainout these next two nights?
  11. the forecast of rain for Wednesday and Thursday does bring up the possibility that Carpenter could pitch at Shea. Either way, he's not Mike Scott 1986 or Orel Hershiser 1988...Mets in 5.
  12. If I were a GM, I'd give a call to Manny Acta.
  13. cooby wrote: I am surprised that Sid has 2 losses. All I really remember is how he turned Game 7 (?) around Sadly, I was at both Sid losses. Game 4 against Scott in 86, where he didn't pitch terribly but gave up a couple HRs and took the loss. And Game 5 in 88. I sat in the same box as Tony Roberts, the actor, watching the Dodgers jump on him for an early 6-run lead.
  14. ]Never thought I'd see Don Hahn's name on any all-time list. Hey, watch it! He held the record for ABs in a World Series game (7) until that damn Scott Podsednik broke it last year.
  15. Jose Cruz made a big catch on the warning track of a drive by Backman...probably the best ball the Mets hit that night. If it landed it would have been a double and possibly a triple.
  16. Third pitcher already? Glad we're carrying 12.
  17. Both teams fell behind 1-0 in the second inning of their first postseason game.
  18. Is it just me or do ballplayers suffer an inordinate number of "broken-glass-in-hotel" injuries? I mean, have any of you heard of anybody other than a ballplayer suffering one of these?
  19. RBIs for Scutaro and Kendall in the 5th, and the As have a 2-0 lead.
  20. Sisk appeared in game 4 of the NLCS (the El Sid-Scott game), and I believe game 2 of the WS.
  21. How good is this Dodger bullpen? I read a playoff preview in the Daily News where they did the position by position, who gets the advantage comparison (on a side note, I can't stand when they do this, position by position matchups don't mean anything). And this preview gave the nod to the LA bullpen over the Mets. For those who have seen them, are Broxton and Saito that good, and is the rest of the bullpen as deep as the Mets'?
  22. Eddie C told FAN that the decision won't be made until tomorrow morning. They want to see how Duque feels.
  23. go Big Hurt!
  24. OK, how'd they get their third run. On Yahoo it says Edmonds singled, then scored on an Encarnacion Sac Fly. How'd he go from first to third?
  25. Isn't Penny being hurt part of the reason he's doing this?
