  1. The first start with St. Lucie on Friday was decent -- 7 IP, 2 runs, 7 hits, 3 K, 2 BB, 1 HR.
  2. I'm not surprised, although his last start was easily his weakest of the season to date. His most memorable outing was 10 innings (yes, 10!) against Hagerstown on June 4. He avoids walks and the long ball (10 BBs and 4 HRs in 78.1 IP), and apparently is super efficient with his pitches when he's on. It will be interesting to see how his game plays at a higher level.
  3. I picked him up in the Ottoneu league for a buck about a month ago. I'm hoping it pays off.
  4. I'll be there. It might not receive my full attention for as long as my daughter chooses to remain awake, but I have nine unfilled spots and not a whole lot of money to spend so I can probably afford to wait on the bidding.
  5. I was under the impression that the best bargain pickups don't materialize until after the season starts anyway, but I could be wrong about that. I got a warning today that my registration was about to expire, and I'm thinking I might not be the only one. So you all might want to check to make sure your registration doesn't expire before draft day and before you even realize it.

And it's not just because she's easy on the eyes. Even the way she eats her green meal on Jakku is compelling. If you asked me before the movie, who is worthy of taking over the Falcon, I would have said no one. Never. Impossible. But when she did it, it was seamless. When she called that lightsaber, it made you want to stand up and cheer. This, this, this, and this again. Yeah, I would have come up with something more interesting than "the Death Star, only bigger." Hell, you could argue that swallowing up a star by itself would have been a better weapon. But I thought everything else about the movie was superb.
  7. As tempting as it is, I'm already in two football leagues and even I have to be reasonable at some point.
  8. I have a suggestion. If no night works for everybody, why not just bypass the draft and have a blind auction on every player like we do with waiver-wire players during the season? We can limit the bidding to 20 players at a given time, and 24 hours per auction, and by the time the season starts we'll all have functional rosters.
  9. So the draft is happening next Friday now?
  10. After the Desolation of Smaug, I was worried this movie would be two and a half hours of fighting with a little bit of dialogue thrown in. Unfortunately, that's pretty much what it was.

It's not like you're the first person to make a mistake by cutting Darren O'Day. I've done a good job of grabbing prospects and making cheap investments on good players, but none of my big investments have paid off. I have plenty of money for a small number of spots, but I feel like I need to grab somebody big who then plays up to the salary.
  12. I was assuming (hoping) he was being sarcastic. But yes, I'm an axe murderer.
  13. I think it's time to call this one. Congrats metsmarathon!
  14. Broke out of a poorly-timed two week slump with five homers last night. It's on, metsmarathon, it's on!
  15. Suffolk County engaged in a hostile takeover.
  16. I loved it. Best movie I've seen in a while, although I admittedly don't get out to too many.

  18. Any night from the 17th to the 21st would be ideal for me, as that is spring break week and I otherwise teach nights.
  19. It's a shame. I wish him luck, and I hope he has a good plan B.
  20. Edgy MD wrote: Has a lot in common thematically with Hot Tub Time Machine. The main difference is this movie's version of "Lou" --- Gary --- is the protagonist. I didn't make that connection when I saw it, but that's spot on.
  21. Congrats!
  22. Does tonight's game count for fantasy stats though?
  23. I'm finally crawling back towards mediocrity, but it would be nice if I could go a week without somebody hitting the DL.
  24. I'm very impressed and encouraged that he was handling pitching in Vegas so well (36/9 K/BB, 2.74 ERA). Hopefully the second time is a charm.
  25. I can't do the 12th, but I could make the 13th work.
