  1. Tuesdays are very bad for me, except for March 19th (my evening class is off). I could do Monday or Wednesday, but Thursday or Friday would be better.
  2. Are you looking for anything in particular?
  3. Very memorable, very quotable, exactly what you want in a classic comedy.

  6. The funny thing is, I could have told Wolf anything he needed to know over lunch today...
  7. Congratulations to the Mohawk Red Flyers! (Whose team is that anyway?) So the site says arbitration begins Oct. 16. What does that mean?
  8. The wind must have been blowing out tonight. My hitters hit seven home runs, but my pitchers allowed nine.
  9. I figured I'd update this since it's been a while. His time in Buffalo last season was an unmitigated disaster (6.11 ERA over 18 starts), and he's back in Binghamton to start the year. The 2.50 ERA in 18 IP after 3 starts is good, but he has only 7 Ks so far. I think it will take a dramatic reversal of fortune to see him in Queens at this point.
  10. So far my hitters are smacking it, but my pitchers are getting smacked just as hard. I'm really regretting taking a wait and see approach to Jeff Samardzija, but at least I have him on the roster.
  11. I have no problem with the emergency holographic Fman playing with the current resources. If he has an advantage, it's because the rest of us have overbid to this point.
  12. 8:30 tonight? Is FMan back in, and if not, are his players going back on the market?
  13. Did anybody even notice at the time it was the wrong Nelson Cruz? It would not be fair to penalize Muddy for that.

Things did start to move more quickly towards the end as spending money started to dry up, but I don't think anybody has more than 12 or 13 players yet. I believe we're continuing on Monday (or was it Tuesday?), and you can probably get some good deals on players (especially pitchers).

  16. In as well.
  17. Maybe instead of an auction, each owner has two minutes to place one bid on a player, and whoever bids the highest gets him?
  18. Do we have a head count? Not sure I'd want to do two nights a draft, but I'll go with it if that works better for most of us. I'd vote for standard 5x5 for simplicity, but the other options are intriguing too and I'd be OK with whatever is voted for.
  19. Since I don't think anything's been settled, welcome abordick!
  20. That might be too random, especially if we want to keep most of the players after this season. Plus you'd need to be on some sort of honors system. But if we have a large number of players drafting 40-man teams, some means of shortening the draft might be necessary.
  21. Auction bidding for 40-player teams could take a long while, too. And we would all have to be there. Unless you have everybody submit one bid per player, like you would for a guy on the waiver wire?
  22. Sounds like fun.
  23. I'm cool with a keeper league. Since I don't think we've ever had a draft where everybody could get to their computer at the same time, I don't see how getting everybody into the same real room at the same time is feasible. I've never tried auction style, but would be willing.
  24. I agree with Vic about Melissa McCarthy, who was easily the best thing about the movie. Unfortunately, I also agree that the lead character got less and less sympathetic as the movie went on.
  25. Considering I was in 11th place at the All-Star Break, I can't really complain about where I finished. What I learned: In a league this deep, don't give up on a guy before his team does. I thought four months was enough time to give James Loney to show some life, but I was mistaken. And don't get me started on Javier Vazquez. You can draft an elite catcher early, but you can't replace his bat if he gets hurt. Call-ups are a safer source of cheap steals (thank you Eric Young and Dee Gordon) than power numbers (Anthony Rizzo, was it something I said?).
