  1. If somebody else beats 3 and 90 with opt-outs, they are totally welcome to have him.
  2. According to Fangraphs, all the first basemen who moved in the last two days except Goldschmidt had a higher WAR last year than Alonso. If he was asking for significantly more than what any of these other players got, I'm not surprised that the other teams looking for first base help all went elsewhere. There was only one team who might value him that much, and right now they appear to be bidding against themselves. I'd hold firm at the 3 and 60 that Walker got. Walker is older, but he's been the better player each of the last three years.
  3. Syracuse just hasn't been friendly to any of our pitching prospects this year.
  4. This. Or, at the very least, disregard the idea that the league's biggest payroll would have difficulty replacing a 1B/DH type north of 30 who can no longer guarantee you an .800 OPS.
  5. Stuart ended last season with an injury, got off to a very rough start in Binghamton this year, but had settled in lately. His last start for the organization on Wednesday was one of his better ones, allowing one run over six innings. I was thinking he might be in Syracuse soon, but alas, business is business.
  6. Basically the rest of the Mets' top 10 (other than Christian Scott, who I'm not sure still qualifies) have either had down years or lost years, so Sproat is our grounds for optimism.
  7. Tong's last four outings: 22 IP, 2 R, 8 H, 6 BB, 32 K, 0 HR. I could see him tasting Binghamton before the season is out.
  8. Completely stupid and idiotic and I laughed all the way through it.
  9. He did struggle a bit in June, but that can happen after a promotion. Hopefully the ship is righted.
  10. Hi, I'm Jonah Tong from Markham, Ontario. I was drafted in the 7th round in 2022, and I will turn 21 next month. I spent April in St. Lucie, but after 36 strikeouts in 18 innings with a WHIP of 0.643 and a 0 ERA, I was handed a one-way ticket to Brooklyn. I've had some control issues since the promotion, but last night I got into the seventh inning allowing only one walk and one run. The next person to homer off me this year will be the first. Don't know me yet? You will.
  11. I still think Herzog stole two division titles from us in 85 and 87. No way those teams matched the Mets in talent.
  12. Seawolf is Raleigh Fingers and metsmarathon is Alpine Albatrosses, but otherwise I'm not sure which handle goes with which team.
  13. I could use a big bat or two myself. I've been too cautious with my bidding when they've become available and it's cost me.
  14. A Boy Named Seo wrote: I posted something on Otto to see who all is coming back. I'm not sure I know everyone there anymore. Smiggy58 is commish, right? I'm terrible but I love that league. Yes I'm the commissioner, although there are a few people more active on the site than I am.
  15. He also got named the Eastern League's Pitcher of the week for the effort.
  16. Stuart bounced back from two straight rough outings with six shutout innings (two hits, six K's, no walks) last night. Hopefully the ship has been righted.
  17. After giving up home runs in each of his first three starts, this is more like it: https://www.milb.com/binghamton/news/stuart-schwartz-lead-binghamton-to-shutout-over-new-hampshire
  18. Stuart went 7 in his second AA start, allowing two runs. He did give up a homer, is second in as many AA starts after giving up three in fourteen starts in high-A. So he's still has to make some adjustments, but he gets through innings quickly and has the look of somebody who'll go deep into games.
  19. Well since I just adopted him for my ottoneu team, I guess I will adopt him here as well.
  20. I don't think I've ever seen a trailer that made a movie look less watchable.
  21. I would take that in a heartbeat. Except for the part about the Jets never winning.
  22. Welcome abordick Rudick!
  23. In case you didn't see it on the site, the draft will be held at 9 pm on Sunday March 19.
  24. While we're on the subject, does anybody want the Mohawk Red Flyers team?
  25. Give him a front-loaded contract with an opt-out that you secretly hope he takes.
