  1. Or, as Joe Schultz (manager of the Seattle Pilots) might have said, "Shitfuck". Later
  2. Got home around 6:30 PM. Left after Duda's at bat, so we missed the ugliness. Did they announce why Flores wasn't playing and Turner was? OK, so I saw TDA's first major league homer. But why no Wilmer? Is he hurt? Later

I watch him leap full out for balls that are multiple Quintanillas above his person all the time. He will strain something before he catches something. Well, he must have already strained his brain. After the opposing pitcher has just walked one (or was it two?) batters, why did he swing at the first pitch? I wanted to put my fist through my car radio. Later

I'll be wearing a black Mets shirt and black Brooklyn Cyclones hat (wifey gave me both, I can't decline) in case anybody's interested. Later Now its an orange shirt - no logo. Sigh. Later
  5. Oops. Dupe. Later
  6. Ichiro with 4,000 (combined Japanese and Major League) hits. Domo. You're a class act. Later
  7. I was looking for two Harry Chiti Tigers cards, before and after. Later
  8. Another Marlon Byrd question. Should he be Comeback Player of the Year? Who else is in consideration? Later
  9. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Any home runs? I think he has 2 for the season. Later
  10. So, it looks like he's going after Carlos' team record. Thanks, Later
  11. After the match, was she tested for PEDs? Later
  12. Assists by NL Centerfielders in 2013 1. Lagares (NYM): 11 2. McCutchen (PIT): 9 3. Pollock (ARI): 7 T4. Revere (PHI): 6 T4. Choo (CIN): 6 What is the single season team record for assists by a centerfielder? Seems like Lagares might be getting close. Also - I heard on the radio tonight (WFAN?) that Satin has reached base safely in 29 consecutive games, a team rookie record. Later
  13. Thanks. Later
  14. Some help, please. Its also the first Sunday for the US Open. What will be the best route into the parking lot avoid the tennis crowd? (coming from the Whitestone Bridge) Later

  17. WOW! They must be good seats. My daughter got a call from someone who works for the Mets. She said that she noticed my daughter had bought them and wondered if she could drop by during the game. I'm guessing its an attempt to market season tickets/ ticket plans or do some market research. My daughter said they were bought as a gift, but the girl said she'd stop by anyhow. Any of you CPF-ers been contacted like this before? Later

  19. Mejia has bone spurs. We'd known he had them and was delaying surgery until the off season. When he walked off the mound the other day, I feared it might have been worse than that. The official word is just that - bone spurs. That was my sigh of relief you just heard. Later

  21. Frayed Knot wrote: There was a small piece in Sunday's NYTimes on game times, specifically on the independent Atlantic League experimenting with trying to speed up their games. So far the Atlantic League claims that: by enforcing the strike zone as defined by the rule book which they theorize could lead to more high strikes and batters swinging earlier in the count; by limiting pitchers to under one minute on their pre-inning warmups and 12 seconds per pitch if there's no one on base; and by prohibiting batters from leaving the box after each pitch, they're down about 10-15 minutes per game this year. What time do they start their games? 7:00 PM Eastern time? As I have mentioned before, the Long Island ducks games are broadcast on 103.9 FM. I get out of work at 10:00 PM and when I get into my car, many of their games are still on. And they aren't always high scoring, either. How long did they used to be? Later

  24. G-Fafif wrote: "Jackie" Clark. Murph liked to extend certain guys who preferred one syllable and one syllable only: Bucky Showalter and Buzzy Capra come to mind, too. And he seemed to pronounce every syllable (maybe he even added a few) in Red Schoendienst's name. Later
