  1. And Lucas Duda has been 0-13 (8Ks) in low A ball since his reactivation from the DL. Later
  2. So far today, Jeter is 2-2 with a homer. The Mets are down 8-0 and being no-hit. I don't think I'm gonna' read tomorrow's newspapers. Later
  3. The talk about Harvey for Stanton reminds me of an old joke: Guy: Would you have sex with me for $1 million? Girl: Yes Guy: Would you have sex with me for $1? Girl: No! What kind of girl do you think I am? Guy: You told me what kind of girl you are. Now we're negotiating price. The face that Stanton is available tellls me that it could be time to negotiate a lower price. Later

That's because Jeter, at this point, is pretty much a mascot, but without the dugout roof dances and t-shirt-shooting guns. he does hand out gift baskets though. Jeter's a stallion. ARod is just a horse's ass. Later

  6. Thanks, FK. That gave me a case of Sickels Kvell Euphoria. Later
  7. Now that Braun has the rest of the Summer off, he can vacation at CLUB PED. Later
  8. Frayed Knot wrote: Mejia has pitched all of 24 innings this season, spread out between the GCL, St Lucie, and Binghamton. Am I to assume that these were all recent innings and that he is now pitching in regular rotation? He has started twice at Bingo for a total of 11 IP btw, Gary mentioned last night the possibility of moving Wheeler back to Friday and getting [the mystery man] up here for Thursday's game. Mejia's last game was for Binghamton last Saturday. His line was: 6IP 3H 1ER 2BB 8K Thursday would be his next scheduled start. Later
  9. As if on cue: @JonHeymanCBS: #yankees are moving closer to acquiring alfonso soriano. george king 1st reported. @JonHeymanCBS: Soriano would have to approve any trade as he has veto power. Later
  10. Gun to my head, I'd keep Byrd. Tough decision. Young's versatility is partially negated by the fact that there are several others on the current roster who can play both infield and outfield. But his speed has been a major plus. By comparison, the Mets don't have many power/ righthanded hitting outfield options on the current squad. Unless they feel that Puello or Flores will take up part of that slack in 2014, Young is the one to go. Later
  11. Edgy MD wrote: Puello doesn't have a union to fight for him. Because he is on the 40 man roster, he will have MLBPA lawyers representing him. Later
  12. Edgy MD wrote: Well, 1600 or 2000, part of my reasoning was that piling up hits can happen despite not being a particularly good hitter. Exactly. If you took bloops, bleeders and bobbles that were scored hits out of his record, Jeter would have a lot fewer hits. We now return this thread to Metly stuff. Later

  14. I just noticed that Binghamton will be playing at New Britain (about 45 minutes from my house) starting at 6:30 today. I said to MMYF "let's go to the game". She told me she'd rather we stay home and barbecue. What do I do? Later
  15. Edgy MD wrote: It's Sunday afternoon in the summer, man. The only thing you should be w iorried about getting done is a glass of lemonade. I was just about to post an emergency question about ths one. stay tuned. Later

  20. I would love to see a press conference next year, held by a power-hitting free agent outfielder, during which he says, "Sandy offered me a great contract. I was ready to sign with the Mets, but he called back a few minutes later and told me ownership nixed it". Megdal would be positively orgasmic. Later
  21. Ceetar wrote: The best thing an athlete can do is not be ashamed to be himself, whoever that is. The media will do what they want, but be honest with yourself and your team and it won't manifest into trouble. Like John Rocker. (Sorry. Couldn't resist. You're generally right) Later

  23. Centerfield wrote: Let's hope that Harvey follows this model. Plays his whole career with the Mets, wins a slew of rings, bangs a bunch of models, then gives a really douchy Hall of Fame induction speech. Amen. Later
  24. The VYF in my office was getting on me about Harvey hitting Cano. I told him that the only reason Harvey plunked Cano was because Jeter wasn't in the game. Later

(Game #2 that year, at YSI) http://www.baseball-almanac.com/asgbox/yr1960as.shtml Some pretty good ballplayers in that one. I went with my friend Andy, who was a Pirates fan.
