  1. With no announcement whether yesterday's rainout will be made up, Francisco went 2-3 in today's final regular season game. He finished the season with a .234/.382/.443 line at AAA - 158AB, 31R, 37H, 6-0-9, 31 RBI in 45G and .277/.368/.553 at AA - 253AB, 43R,70H, 16-0-18, 47RBI in 76 G. Combined stats: .260/.374/.511 22-0-27 78RBI. Not bad for a 20 year old in 112 games. Later
  2. Francisco Álvarez since returning from an ankle injury for Triple-A Syracuse: - 8 G, 34 PA, .387/.441/.742, 3 HR, 10 RBI, 5 XBH, 3 BB, 8 K He didn't play last night. I hope he finishes out the season strong and plays every game until the season ends on Thursday. Later
  3. Another 2-4. Up to .225. Later
  4. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Maybe he needs an ankle injury every once in a while to give him a jump start. You may be onto something. He was 3 for 3 last night with a double and homer in a rain shortened game. Maybe he is stepping more gingerly because he's afraid to inure it again, and it has altered his stroke or approach to the pitch. Later
  5. Francisco had seven hits with a pair of home runs in 20 at-bats in his first full series since an ankle injury sidelined him in late August. Later
  6. Francisco is finally off the AAA interstate. His 2-4 (with a homer and 5 RBI today) put his BA at an even .200. Later
  7. Cal got a playoff start tonight for St. Lucie. His line: 1.1 IP, 2H, 2R, 2ER, 3B, 3K 43 pitches, 24 strikes. Later
  8. Francisco returned from the IL list and played in last night's game, but went 0-4 as the DH. Later
  9. Cal started the first game of tonight's doubleheader. His line:2.2IP, 4H, 2R, 2ER, 4BB, 2K. He's thrown 60 pitches, with 28 strikes. The game is in a rain delay with his team losing 2-0. OE: the game resumed. He got the loss (final score 4-0) It dropped his record to 0-6. Later
  10. Well, the streak got snapped. Cal didn't get out of the first inning tonight. His line was .2IP, 4H, 5R, 5ER, 1BB, 2K. The team is down 0-8 in the second inning. Sigh Later
  11. He has a "loose body" in the ankle and will be able to resume baseball duties soon. https://metsmerizedonline.com/francisco-alvarez-dealing-with-loose-body-in-right-ankle/https://metsmerizedonline.com/francisco-alvarez-dealing-with-loose-body-in-right-ankle/ sigh of relief. Later
  12. Say "hello" to Radar O'Reilly if you see him there in Iowa. Later
  13. Per Andy Martino of SNY, Francisco Álvarez has been experiencing right ankle soreness and will be evaluated in New York this week. There is a possibility he will have to miss time. Later
  14. After getting rained out yesterday, Calvin started today's first game of the double header for St. Lucie. He was the losing pitcher 3-1. His numbers: 3 IP (his longest stint this year),2 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4K) His streak, of not giving up more than 2 hits in any start, continues. Later
  15. Zebulon Vermillion (that is FUN to type) pitched a scoreless inning in his pro debut last night. Later
  16. The kid started again tonight. He pitched 2 1/3, gave up one hit (his string of two or fewer its in every start is still alive), one un-earned run, walked three and struck out two. No decision. Later
  17. Reminds me of 33 - the movie about the 33 miners trapped in a mine in Chile that came out a few years ago. That one interested me because it was co-produced by Chile-born actress Cote de Pablo. Later
  18. The kid is easing back into the rotation. He started today, and his line was: 2IP, 0 H,0 R, 1 B, 3K (he hit one batter) His string is still intact of never giving up more than two hits in any start. Later
  19. The kid finally pitched tonight. (He must have been on the IL) He pitched 2/3 of an inning, gave up one run (not earned) no hits, but walked three and struck out one. This continues his streak of not giving up more than two hits in any game he's started - sorta. Later
  20. Francisco's BA is barely North of the Interstate, but his second home run last night was a walkoff. Later
  21. Max Scherzer was right. It is a nice ballpark, and again it was voted the best AA ballpark. https://www.ctinsider.com/sports/article/Hartford-s-Dunkin-Donuts-Park-named-best-in-17330205.phphttps://www.ctinsider.com/sports/article/Hartford-s-Dunkin-Donuts-Park-named-best-in-17330205.php Later
  22. Francisco's first AAA home run is a Grand Slam in today's game. Later
  23. Edgy MD wrote: What seems like an oblique injury to McCannister may offer itself as a pretext to call Francisco's name. While I'd like to see it, he hasn't adjusted to AAA pitching yet, and has been in a (hopefully) mini-slump since he got there. If he had ben mashing at Syracuse, a better argument could be made for bringing him up. With Alvarez, I'll trust the old adage "Good things happen to those who wait". Later
  24. No official word, but Calvin hasn't pitched in about two weeks. Me must be on the IL. Or was eaten by a gator. Later
  25. According to SNY, on Thursday it will be announced that he's been named to the All-Star futures game. https://www.sny.tv/articles/mets-francisco-alvarez-will-make-all-star-futures-game-2022?fbclid=IwAR2Pk7QK13fF1cWnAQjx85Ql0tZ0_vlYuafGMCA0Xw8_MkyyXRGpn_q24_shttps://www.sny.tv/articles/mets-francisco-alvarez-will-make-all-star-futures-game-2022?fbclid=IwAR2Pk7QK13fF1cWnAQjx85Ql0tZ0_vlYuafGMCA0Xw8_MkyyXRGpn_q24_s Later
