    I’ve read and heard many times that one of the ground breaking things about “Citizen Kane” (1941) is that it was the first time a ceiling had been shown in a movie set. i just saw “the Mark of Zorro” (1940) in which Tyrone Power thrusts his sword into the ceiling of a tavern. so much for movie history. later

    They measure their gas in liters, measure home runs in meters and temperature in Celsius. When they announce the attendance, I wonder if that will be in American numbers.     I'm for keeping Thornton on the major league roster instead of Senga. Trade Senga, demote him or release him, I don't care. Thornton pitched a really effective game. Give him a chance until he proves he can't do the job. Later

    I remember screaming in frustration over his lineup and in-game moves. I can't remember a game going by when I didn't think "Why the F did he do that?" Later

    I hope they keep him as a reserve and not as part of a platoon with Ewing. I want Ewing to be given a real chance of proving that he can play every day. Later

    I think that's the way it used to be. Teams could keep a player in the minors for three years, after which they had to be added to the major league roster or possibly lose them in the Rule V Draft. Then, they had three years during which they could be optioned to the minors from the major league team. I don't see how this changes anything. Later

    The DH rule and Mariano Rivera made it easier for him. He didn't have to think as much as when he managed in the NL earlier in his career. Later

    He would be another slow ex-Cardinal first basemen to manage the Mets. The other had a .405 winning percentage. Later

    Somebody in management had to go to shake up things. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit. He had to work with the players he had, and the roster has too many holes. And he wasn't exactly a brilliant tactician. He should be holding Stearns' hand as they both walk out the door. Later
