  2. Each base -- one for a walk or single, two for a double -- would earn them $200 more than what they would otherwise receive. Each out would slice off $100. If they hit into a double play, does it cost them $200? Later
  3. You really should have posted a parental warning. That picture of Torre at the top of the thread could scare young children. Later
  4. As long as none of the Mets come back from the road trip with a case of Desert Fever, I'll be happy. Later
  5. Bartolo Colon is questionable for his Saturday's scheduled start due to a back issue. Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News was told by a Mets source that Colon's back "was a factor" in his last outing when was blasted for nine runs on 11 hits over five innings, and "it remains to be seen" if he'll be ready Saturday. Colon has been receiving treatment on his back the past two days and the club will make a determination on his status later this week. They do have an off day Thursday, so Colon could easily be pushed back. Apr 16 - 9:08 AM Source: New York Daily News Later
  6. AAA Pitching prospect Jacob Degrom gave up one hit through the first five innings last night. The hit was by Mike Jacobs. Later
  7. This doesn't belong in a YLDB thread (do we have one for 2014?) because that would be disrespectful to the man. But, REALLY? Just because the Wilpons honor Jackie Robinson in their stadium, did the MFYs have to try do something really patronizing like this? http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2014/04/15/mandela-plaque-at-monument-park-highlights-jackie-robinson-day-festivities/ What's next, a statue of Rudi Guilliani? He's a fan of theirs, too. Later

No way, everyone knows that Bobby Abreu never goes near the warning track. That made me laugh out loud. Really. Edgy's comment reminded me of a comment about Oscar Gamble. A writer said (I paraphrase) "Its a good thing he has a strong arm, so when he misjudges a fly ball, he can hold the batter at second". Later
  9. Benjamin Grimm wrote: If it had actual, DNA-tested Jeter barf in it, you could probably sell it for $2,000 on eBay. Been thinking that I don't want to know how they got that DNA for comparison purposes. Later
  10. Zvon wrote: Torres with an 8 out save! Niiiiice. Mets win 7-3. Carlos is the only reliever who I don't have to peek between my fingers to watch when he comes in to pitch. Later
  11. As of this moment (11:40 PM on Monday) Chris is 7 for 7 in his Vegas rehab, including 2 homers. Hope he saves some of that for when he returns to the big club. Later
  12. FuCos? They are now allowed to trade international signing dollar amount exemptions (or whatever they call it when you can spend over your "limit"). Also, you can't trade a player on the DL, so maybe there will be a named return shortly. Finally, thank you for protecting my gag reflex by not naming this "The Forsythe Saga". Later
  13. I think at least one "Memories Of ... " thread should be warming up in the bullpen. Later
  14. Frayed Knot wrote: Yeah, many Yanx fans weren't too happy w/Granderson by the end of his run there for much the same reason as already discussed: they were willing to give up the 108 HRs he hit over 3 seasons there in favor of more running and bunting, and often didn't realize that the low-ish batting averages were supplemented by close to 100 points of OBA every season. You can always tell a Yankee fan. You just can't tell them too much. Later
  15. One of the writers in the Daily News (yesterday early edition) actually said that in the game, two balls got by Jeter (we commented on one here) that (close paraphrase) "an average major league shortstop would have fielded." I'm guessing that he sees more and more time as DH this year as the pitchers start to quietly complain to Girardi. Later
  16. Don't see one of these here yet. Tuesday, Mets beat the Braves and MFYs lost to Bal'mer. Later

  19. Let's all give a standing round of applause to minor league veteran Alan Dykstra. He's finally in AAA. He started at 1B tonight and is currently 1-2 with 2 RBI. Good for him. Later

  21. Welcome. Now, rookie, stand up on that virtual table in the middle of the room and sing your school's fight song. Later
  22. Mex17 wrote: The pre and post game shows sound a little flat to me. No frills. Hopefully it is a work in progress. Awful. Those frills we're not getting in the post game shows include any details about out-of-town games. Later
  23. Ceetar wrote: I'm sure this info is out there somewhere on like Cribz or whatever, but what do these guys do with all this junk? Derek probably re-gifts it. The gifts probably all have his name on them, so what greater gift can he give? (SM= 98) Later
  24. Ceetar wrote: Got a good hour of Suzyn and John though on my ride home. I'm good for the year. After all those years of WFAN being the flagship station of the Mets, their voices seem as out of place as an Ayatolla at a Bar Mitzvah. Later
