  1. I remember the old joke that the two happiest days of a boat owner's life are the day he gets it and the day he gets rid of it. Don't remember how I felt about the first one, but I can agree with the second one. Later
  2. He was a reminder that you didn't have to have a blazing fastball to be a winner. In his Cy Young award winning year, he threw 315 innings(!!) , and only had 93 strikeouts. I don't think many scouts would even look in his direction today. He was a pitcher, not just a thrower. RIP Later
  3. Hey Adriannnnn (Gonzalez) When you said 2007 I thought of Sandy Alomar. Nice red herring. Later
  4. Methuselah's boyhood idol - Julio Franco. Later
  5. The brother from a different mother - Jose Valentin. Later

  9. The Mets have released Frankie Montas (I'll pause to let the cheering die down) and have added OF Nick Morabito to the 40 man roster to protect him from next week's Rule V Draft. Later
  10. His final numbers in the recently completed AFL season: 15 G, 60 AB, .283/.353/.567, 2 2B, 0 3B, 5 HR, 7 BB, 18 K, 8/8 SB, 0 HBP, .316 BABIP Later
  11. I'd have preferred that Rojas signing if he batted righty. But it can't hurt to have another versatile player on the roster. Later
  12. This article supports what you said about Nimmo: https://www.amazinavenue.com/new-york-mets-season-review/87486/mets-nimmo-2025-season-review Later
  13. Thanks for the explanation. I had thought it was because he was being moved to different positions on a day-to-day basis after being just (mainly) a second baseman for years. Ballplayers like a routine (warmup, pregame meal, etc.). Some people handle change better than others. Who doesn't like McSquirrel? Hope he is fully recovered by the start of next season. Later
  14. Plus, I don't forget that incident as an MFY coach against the Mets. From that moment on, he lost his Metliness to me. Later
  15. After reading that, I had to go double up on my heart medication. Pay the man. I like CF's comps. I'd like a 4 year, with a 5th year mutual option. Later
  16. I saw that, too. But since I haven't gambled on sports since super Bowl III, those new kinds of bets boggle my mind. Later
  17. The one thing about this that gets me is the prop bets such as "the first pitch will be a strike". Sometimes it seems that a pitcher can't always throw a strike when they want to. How can someone place money on a pitcher being able to do such a thing? It would seem better to place money on the first pitch being a ball(which is easier to throw). 'Tis a puzzlement. Later
