  1. All this legislation by position is bullshit. And I really wish they'd "tested" the 3-batter rule, of if they did, what the results showed them.. I'm sure every team in the majors will lose 2 or 3 games --and win 2 or 3 -- they wouldn't have otherwise as a result of this thing, but the distribution won't be so neat and there'll be some teams just unlucky that they couldn;t stop the bleeding because the rules prevented them from taking out a guy who was having a bad day. Dumb fucking rule.
  2. =LWFS post_id=31442 time=1581391177 user_id=84] Oddly, Mets things are one of the few areas of interest I have that I DON'T pursue into podcasts. I've toe-dipped into Effectively Wild. Wifey Watch-- as presently constructed-- would be, like, a TERRIBLE thing to put out on blast for outside consumption.
  3. Not speaking for Ceets but my guess is he sees a conspiracy whereby Beltran is being set-up as a fall guy. That he was caught in a lie about his culpability--and the report and now these comments support that he was lying--doesn't matter in that case.
  4. There's nothing wrong with the Post article. It's just an article.
  5. ammyzon prime has lots of em. We had to pay to rent Parasite. I believe there is a Korean channel available on the Amazon box we have
  6. We're on a regular Korean film kick, letting the streamer AI tell us which one to next watch. Last weekend we checked out EXIT, a sweethearted action film that was only okay (poison gas attack makes loser guy perform acts of urban rooftop heroism, hijinx ensue).
  7. They're not making any more National League baseball teams in New York, so I'm sure lots of people will want one. If it means taking less than $3B so be it.
  8. First player in team history to select the whacky No. 91, which I think referred to a bible verse. Exciting guy we had at the wrong times of his career. You could tell he was going to be good when we traded him, and that he was done when we finally got him back
  9. Here's that game, talking about Laggy then in what was his 2nd start and 5th MLB appearance: http://archives.thecranepool.net/19400/f14_t19465.shtmlhttp://archives.thecranepool.net/19400/f14_t19465.shtml Phillies 5, Mets 1: http://www.leaptoad.com/mets/gamedetail.php?gameno=8227&tabno=Dhttp://www.leaptoad.com/mets/gamedetail.php?gameno=8227&tabno=D
  10. Best memory of Lagares was attending one of his very first starts with the Lunchpail. It was a shitty game, the Mets lost, the giveaway was a joke (Some Marvel movie cup with zero Met content), but Lagares made a catch on a ball off the bat I was so accustomed to seeing land as a hit it shocked me. It was one of those shallow dying quails that guys routinely pull up on and play on the hop, Lagares got there to make the catch and didn't even seem to be busting it. It reminded me of vintage Ordonez. He only got a chance after we cycled through a bunch of pretenders out there-- was cowgill one of them?-- and it I was convinced then and there they finally had the right guy out there. Unfortunately he didn't improve enough offensively
  11. Joel Sherman has the scoop: https://nypost.com/2020/02/10/mlb-plotting-playoff-expansion-with-reality-tv-twist/https://nypost.com/2020/02/10/mlb-plotting-playoff-expansion-with-reality-tv-twist/ I dunno how I feel about this but the case is there for TV drama and $$$$$ which is why (and when) they'd consider it. Risks making the reg season a little too meaningless as I believe the '19 Mets make the playoffs (and are the choice of the best team required to make a choice) under this expansion format.
  12. Yeah, weird piece. Lynch was considered something of a cutting-edge hire as a GM in his day as he was the youngest GM in the game when the Cubs hired him. And though he speaks proudly of abusing himself for the game one of his notable GMing exploits was going after a high school coach who worked young Kerry Wood too hard. Also as a GM (groomed for such a role by Joe McIlvaine) his record in Chicago was pretty dim: He spoke of "pitching, speed and defense" but wound up getting them a bunch of veteran role-players and trading away more than a few promising minor-leaguers. That said I'd like it if the Mets hired him in Jessica Mendoza's role
  13. Oh but we do. We could focus on what makes the community unique and popular with literally dozens of people: -Wifey Watch -Typewriter Chewing Gum -Tabloid Derby Contests -Historical Rankings -World Championship of Classic Rock -Schaefer PoTG/PoTW
  14. Watch them sell for $2,600,000,001 then take 5 years to close the deal
  15. Yes you need a perspective that's unique and an audience who appreciates that uniqueness
  16. =MFS62 post_id=31335 time=1581289538 user_id=60] Last time I looked, my calendar says 2020. Later
  17. That's probably true too
  18. I do have a bit of a podcast subscribing habit... Thanks, Steve! I'll check out some of those! I have heard a couple of "Locked on Mets" episodes. Still trying to figure out what I think about it. The quality makes it seem like it's a random guy in his basement. But he made some interesting points and seemed to know what he was talking about. Locked On's MLB Mothership has Paul Francis Sullivan as its host, so if anything you can listen to Locked on MLB instead Wish there was a Met Guy In Michigan pod You are very kind! I do have one we started for work. We interview students and alumni with cool stories! If you want to give a listen, it's on Spotify, iTunes and the others. You can find it here: https://anchor.fm/mygrccstoryhttps://anchor.fm/mygrccstory Curious what you think. We're learning as we go. I'll check out the Mothership! I'm also supposed to be podcasting for work, but doing that in addition to all the other stuff I do is a PITA. That said there is a white space in podcast land for the kind of thing I do, and they just got me a cool mic, so maybe. I'd be happy to be a guest or host of a Mets thing but tbh that'd be a little spitting into the wind, considering any mom's-basement butthead can start a podcast. At one time, there was a billion Mets blogs too but most of those are dead today as writing is probably more difficult than talking.
  19. This was terrible
  20. Morales may be retiring but basically ended his career breaking his leg celebrating a home run
  21. The Times intimates that Cohen believed the 5 year titles were to be symbolic in nature and it broke down over that. And that deal is definitely dead
  22. Typical of the dumbass things Chief Brody has overseen so far. Hire a celebrity assistant GM for the oxygen it gives you, pretend the conflicts of interest don't matter, then part ways with a nice note as soon as they do. What contributions do you think she made? Not that I doubt she had something to offer
  23. Guys named Roger were really good baseball writers, even Steve J
  24. That statement from Cohen is an understated doozy. "I gave it my best shot." WoW https://twitter.com/kevinmdraper/status/1225613250433253376/photo/1https://twitter.com/kevinmdraper/status/1225613250433253376/photo/1
