Santana vs. Gallardo. This will be Johan's 5th matchup against an opposing team's ace this year. He hasn't been bested yet. Opening day, 4/5 vs. FLA - Santana over Josh Johnson. 4/27 vs. LAD - Santana over Hiroki Kuroda. 5/13 at FLA - Santana matches Johnson through 7, Marlins win 2-1 on walkoff in 9th. 5/23 vs. MFYs - Santana over Sabathia.

C'mon. Toronto is 27-22 and is in 4th place, 6 games out.

    Hisanori Takahashi: "Desire.". I approve.

A jersey's too much, but it's not too early to get a Takahashi player name/number t-shirt, right? This guy is really growing on me.

Gary, on the broadcast after the Reyes KABOOM: "he's back."

He's too tired to pitch tonight so I say we put him ahead of Gary Matthews Jr. on the PH-depth chart.

Excellent game and great company to take it in with (thanks for the ticket, KC). Very happy to see the Mets putting runs on the board almost every inning (6 of 8). We still have "Takin Care of Business" but afterwards they played "Uprising" by Muse which I thought was a nice choice.

Whither "Take Me Out To The Ballgame?" (Or "MtM?") The real surprise is that they are honoring this song in the first place. I fully maintain that "Centerfield" is the worst rock and roll song of all time. I had the opportunity to see Fogerty at an otherwise very special series of concerts several years back and the experience was nearly ruined by him playing that godawful song on a ridiculous baseball-bat shaped guitar.

R.A. Dickey vs. Jamie Moyer. "No pitch above 85 MPH or your money back."
  22. Gwreck
Yes. This was limited to regular season.

If you guys were the manager and your job was in jeopardy, would you really go with Alex Cora? I don't know. I think we can sustain one guy who is in the lineup primarily for defense, not 2. With no Castillo, there needs to be an upgrade at either 2B or RF. Cora + Francoeur every day is unworkable. If he wanted to put Carter in RF and keep Cora at 2B, that might be ok.
  24. Gwreck
You think Murphy can play second? I think we could probably hide him in RF but I have my doubts about second.
  25. Gwreck
The money is irrelevant at this point: we're stuck paying, he's so bad nobody's going to take him and he's a FA at the end of the year. I say whoever hits (especially given our problems there) and Francoeur can always come in as a defensive replacement late in the game. I'd even try Murphy in RF if need be.
