    After losing today we could sure use some help in the standings. So how about: Zack Greinke going for the Royals against the Braves. Dodgers (1/2 game behind us in WC standings) going to the 9th tied with Boston. Twins were down five runs going into the 9th but Jim Thome (off Contreras) and Joe Mauer (off Lidge) homers tied it up.

    What an annoying game. And to think that I used to like Curtis Granderson once, too. While I hate to give any credit to the MFYs, that steak sandwich from Lobel's is damn good.

    Representing your CPF in enemy territory tonight. I'd estimate 20% Mets fans which is pretty high for the house of evil. Really solid game all around; loved the early run, the complete shutdown of their offense, and the tacking on when it really counted. Didn't really care too much one way or the other re: Valdes and at least Jerry pulled him out quickly. What drove me crazy of course was Jose attempting to bunt when Tejada was on first in the top of the 8th. Maybe the double down the right field line was a clue upside the head to Jerry that bunting is for losers!

    Ehh... I don't know if we lost games especially because of Gary Matthews Jr. but he surely didn't help. Gary's second tenure with the Mets unfortunately will be remembered (by me, at least) as a "First Guessing" move. It was a deal that was: A. Obviously a bad one at the time of the deal and B. One that obviously didn't work. It's not "second guessing" if you knew at the start that it was a bad idea!
