  2. I would've told Timo to run hard, too but I was pretty sure that's not what the question asked for. I have a hard time believing any one move would have directly led to a title but I certainly can imagine how some would certainly have changed things dramatically (for the good? We can only speculate).

  5. I'm fine with no Mets starting the game but Rollins (out all year, hurt) and Polanco (particularly) are embarrassing choices.

Griffey hit only six of his 630 homers against the Mets; the only teams against which he hit fewer were the Phillies (4) and the Mariners (3). Can you name the Mets pitchers who gave them up? 8. Current NL Leaders: Pujols and Utley (both locks) Jimmy Rollins, still a narrow lead over Hanley Ramirez Placido Polanco (!), widening his lead over David Wright Braun, Werth and Ethier (Victorino 4th) Yadier F. Molina with a narrow lead over Carlos Ruiz.
  9. I would've liked to hire Jim Leyland instead of Willie Randolph following the 2004 season.
  10. Murphy suffers serious leg injury on takeout slide at second base tonight in Buffalo.
  11. Important correction: tomorrow (Wednesday)'s game is a 3:35 PDT start, which makes it a 6:35 PM EDT game.
  12. I'd still rather have Felipe Lopez and his .818 OPS than Cora's .585.
  13. Reyes 1 Pagan 1 Wright 1 Barajas 1 Meija 1 Matthews .5
  14. Maybe Angel can get us another one of those triple plays.
  15. You're right, Victorino got Santana in that game with the slam; it was only a 3-run HR he got off Pelfrey the game previous.
  16. Jerry Hariston Jr. (today) Corey Hart (Saturday) Shane Victorino (vs. Pelfrey in May) Felipe Lopez (vs. Valdes in April) Josh Willingham (vs. Santana in April) I thought there was a 6th.
  17. I recall Dontrelle also knocking a grand slam (pitcher: Jose Lima) off the K-counter scoreboard above the Mets' bullpen in July 2006. I'd certainly pick him up off waivers.
  18. Assuming the Nationals maintain a 5-pitcher rotation, and no rainouts/schedule changes, this June 8 start would mean Strasburg would be on schedule to miss the Mets when they play in Washington on July 1-4.
  19. Santana's got 1 extra day no matter what, with the off day on Monday. I guess they could put throw Pelfrey on Sunday, skip Takahashi and push him back to that Wednesday start instead.
  20. Nice job by the Buffalo 'pen there.
  21. Rubin reports that Niese will be back in the rotation on Saturday. I guess that would give us this rotation - which would mean some extra rest for everyone. (The alternative is taking Takahashi out of the rotation as Pelfrey could go again on Sunday, 6/6). Mon 5/31 - Takahashi v. Kevin Correia Tue 6/1 - Pelfrey v. Wade LeBlanc Wed 6/2 - Santana v. Clayton Richard Thu 6/3 - OFF Fri 6/4 - R.A. Dickey v. Anibal Sanchez Sat 6/5 - Niese v. Nate Robertson Sun 6/6 - Takahashi v. Ricky Nolasco Mon 6/7 - OFF Tue 6/8 - Pelfrey v. 22. We also have an off day on the 7th, after that Marlins series. You don't mess with success and just keep the same 4 man rotation going until Niese is ready (which should be soon, I thought).
  23. 7:05 PM start on Memorial Day is stupid. LET'S
