I think that's a fair analysis, so long as one concedes that from the available evidence -- including Einhorn's comments, limited as they are -- the most likely scenario is that the Wilpons killed the deal. --- I personally am disheartened by this development but I suppose it is fair to wait and see what happens this offseason to find out how broke (or not broke) the Wilpons really are.

  6. Stanton's opposite field shot into the name-brand-cola-product Porch was really impressive. The Mets were not.

  12. Fox Sports en Espanol: 125 - Time Warner 196 - Cablevision
  13. And I would be watching that if fucking Fox didn't pre-empt the game for the same repetitive storm "coverage" I could get on 18 other channels. Fuck them.
  14. Actually, only his fourth worst (a 39). The bad ones: April 14 in Colorado (gives up seven runs in 5.2) - 28 April 28 at Washington (4 runs on 10 hits in 5.2) - 35 June 1 vs. Pittsburgh (fails to retire first 5 batters in the 7th, they all score) - 37
  15. Capuano's game score of 96 is the best in the majors this year. The Ervin Santana no-hitter was a 94; Verlander also had a 94 (and a 90 for his no-hitter).
  16. Capuano 6 Duda 1.5 Tejada 1 Turner .75 Evans .75
  17. Best game of the year? I say yes. Big tip of the hat to Capuano for a great performance. I was sure that the Uggla hit would trigger the usual 4-run inning but he got through it. Golden sombrero for Bourn was nice. Only thing that I was disappointed about was that they didn't show the post-game interview with Kevin on the Jumbotron. Angel forgetting how many outs there were was really ridiculous. If we weren't so short on capable players, I'd bench him for a game as penalty.
  18. He had one plate appearance as a pinch-hitter. He walked, which then required that Capuano come in as a pinch runner for him. Sounds to me like he's not doing so well.
  19. Gameday says Duda was hit by a pitch immediately following Wright's homer. For those who are actually watching -- anything we should know, or just a pitch that got away?
  20. Paulino doesn't have enough service time for free agency. Accordingly, he remains under the Mets' (or the team they traded him to) control for 2012. He's a useful part at a relatively cheap price.
  21. You missed the point on several levels: 1. Playing shorthanded is stupid 2. Paulino has a toe problem and may also be hurt 3. We need bullpen help desperately etc
  22. This is ridiculous. We are dying for fresh, healthy players and they can't be bothered to put people on the DL and get somebody, anybody to play. Why not just forefeit.
  23. Niese to DL, Nickeas up. Rubin reports that Hairston isn't on the DL yet. What, they can't be bothered?
  24. So we had second and third, nobody out and then proceeded to strike out looking three times in a row? Swinging at only 3 of the 13 pitches?
