  1. WoWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
  2. Papelbon blows it!
  3. Tampa had two men on with 1 out but couldn't get the winning run in. They go to 12 and now all the pressure will be on them.
  4. Dan Johnson PH homer with 2 outs and 2 strikes and Tampa ties it.
  5. Rally stalls at 7-6 and they go to the 9th. I wonder if Rivera comes in or not for the MFYs.
  6. Sac fly and then Longoria homer....now 7-6
  7. Our old friend Luis Ayala just walked in Tampa's first run. They're now down 7-1 with the bases loaded and nobody out. Edit: He just hit a batter to make it 7-2.
  8. I think the Braves still win this game however -- Phillies already used Lidge and Madson and don't seem to be in any great hurry to break out any of their other good relievers.
  9. Now Pence walks and the bases are loaded again.
  10. Philly got 1 in the seventh and now have the tying run on against Kimbrel in the 9th.
  11. Top 5 games I attended this year: 1. June 29 at Detroit Mets 16, Tigers 9 Second straight day of putting a hurting on the Tigers' pitchers. Hairston three-run triple in the first started things off well. 2. August 26 vs. Atlanta Mets 6, Braves 0 Capuano's 2-hit, 13k shutout, the finest pitching performance (by Game Score) of the 2011 MLB season. 3. June 12 at Pittsburgh Mets 7, Pirates 0 Another good Capuano start; Pirates lose argument on disputed replay, and then Mets go off, with homers from Hairston and Reyes in the 9th to cap things off. 4. May 6 vs. Dodgers Mets 6, Dodgers 3 Two triples from Reyes in 1 game! 5. August 9 vs. Padres Mets 5, Padres 4 Mets score 3 in the 8th off the Padre bullpen to take the lead.
  12. I always find this more fun when limited to one per person. Perhaps recent events are clouding my memory but my easy pick is: September 27: Jose Reyes' curtain call after his second home run.
  13. I don't think Tejada or Evans are rookies.
  14. Missed this going down real-time due to a work phone call but this is stupid AND is messing with the baseball gods. This is just asking for a 4-for-4 day for Braun to pass Reyes and Reyes' wimpy manager.
  15. The Brewers ALMOST had the #2 seed clinched, as the Dodgers took a 3 run lead over the D-Backs into the bottom of the 10th. Dodgers closer Javy Guevera gave up a game-winning grand slam to Ryan Roberts of the D-Backs however. Arizona remains 1 game behind the Brewers. Tie goes to Arizona based on head-to-head record. Unfortunately, Braun still has something to play for. Had the Brewers clinched the #2 seed, chances are that he might sit.
  16. Frayed Knot wrote: Trenton, though, is probably considered part of the NYC market to the point where either big league club has veto rights over the introduction of a new team within organized ball Nope, Trenton is safe. Mets and Yankees' overlapping territorial rights are for the 5 boroughs, Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland and Westchester; Bergen, Hudson, Essex and Union Counties in NJ; and a portion of Fairfield County in CT (that which is South of I-84 and West of Route 58).
  17. My last game of the year. If this was the last game seeing Reyes in a Mets uniform, it was a hell of a way for Jose to go out. Just about everything you could want from the Jose Reyes experience: -Exciting extra-base hits...check -Stolen base...check -Antagonizing the pitcher on the bases...check -Highlight-reel defensive play...check -A little extra panache (the curtain-call)...Check! Lots of love for Jose from the crowd tonight too. You could almost see him gain confidence and play better when there were spontaneous Jose-Jose-Jose chants going. As for the rest of the game? I suppose, given the season, that one final kick to the gonads was in order. Still can't really believe what happened. The scoreboard even put up the "Mets Win!!" graphic for about 5-10 seconds.
  18. The [crossout:2zo42kwf]Devil[/crossout:2zo42kwf] Rays traded Randy Winn for Lou Piniella a few years back.
  19. There were no outs. NONE!
  20. After an assassination attempt, you don't bunt. You put one right back through the box and win the game.
  21. NO BUNTING
  22. Well, um, I guess Jose re-took the lead in the batting race with that double at least. Braun is sitting tonight.
  23. Screw you, Byrdak. You're supposed to get Votto and Bruce out, not give up hits. Getting these lefties is the [crossout:3q2zzgtc]exact[/crossout:3q2zzgtc] only thing we pay you for.
