  1. Fuck. Gardener double ties it.
  2. Wow. That Verlander is pretty good.
  3. Leyland tries twice to give away outs but instead of successfully getting bunts down, both Jackson and Santiago reach. Tigers tie it up 2-2 despite grounding into their 3rd double play in 3 innings.
  4. Cards win game two which is a very nice surprise. Let's go Redbirds.
  5. Carpenter was lifted for a pinch hitter in the 4th. Cardinals got 3 that inning but the third out was at the plate so they're still down 1, 4-3.
  6. Brewers put together a big rally and win again. I predict they win game 3 for the sweep.
  7. Scherzer put two men on in the bottom of the 7th and now we're into the Tiger 'pen.
  8. 5 hitless innings from Max Scherzer to start the game for the Tigers.

  10. Berkman with a 3 run homer in the 1st inning off Halladay starts things off right.
  11. Edgy DC wrote: How do the Arn Tellums of the world negotiate freedom for the Japanese that nobody can get for western-born players? Specially-negotiated provision pursuant to Article XX of the MLB basic agreement.
  12. I think the rule is that you can replace an injured player (who was on your roster on August 31) with another player from within your Major/minor league organization, provided that player was in your organization by August 31. Moore also started partially because Rays starter Jeff Niemann is hurt.
  13. Igarashi is not under Met control for 2012 (that's the standard used, right?) and is certainly a goner.
  14. I recall that the sentiment was that while Wayne isn't very good the project trended towards being just a little too mean.
  15. You thought you were getting Verlander - Sabathia...but if this rain keeps up, you're gonna get Brad Penny - AJ Burnett.
  16. Delmon Young with a cheap MFY-Stadium homer to right gives the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the first.
  17. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Is Wilson the guy who tweeted about Jose Reyes? And is he also a free agent to be? Yes and Yes. Wilson is the best available free-agent pitcher on the market this offseason. (Unless Sabathia opts out of his Yankees contract and becomes a FA).
  18. Bob Welch, Oakland, 1990
  19. Great solution or perfect solution to the 2012 season? (Maybe Boston needs to kick in $5 million to make it work). Who blinks first?
  20. Exactly. Diamondbacks have a World Series win (and a handful of other playoff appearances) in only 14 years of existence. Brewers have had 1 playoff appearance in the last 28 years.
  21. I am shocked by the Phillies votes and the only thing I can think of is that those voting that way must have (very fortunately) not encountered any Philadephia fans over the past 3-4 years. I realize there's much to dislike about the Cardinals: Pitchers hitting eighth; Yadier Molina; DWIs; Historical antipathy (the 80s); The "best fans in baseball" nonsense... ...yet Philadelphia's abomination of a fan base makes me root for those fucking Cardinals without even stopping to consider it.
  22. I have much respect for the Rays because any team that can assist in keeping the Yankees or Red Sox out of the postseason on a regular basis (that's 3 out of the last 4 years now) is a very good thing. I suppose I'm most neutral on this series out of all 4; don't have anything specifically against the Rangers.
  23. Because the Yankees wanted Tampa to win.
  24. All aboard the Brewer bandwagon here. My preferences: 1. Brewers 2. Tigers 3. Rays 4. Rangers 5. Diamondbacks 6. Cardinals 7. Phillies 8. Yankees
  25. Friday times are out: Tampa at Texas 5:07 EDT Tigers at MFYs 8:37 EDT
