  1. Maybe we want a pinch-runner for Evans here? Pridie?
  2. Looks like this one is going to fall on the shoulders of Josh Thole.
  3. Any scenario with Tampa in the playoffs is a good one but ideally it will be the MFYs they replace rather than Boston. Tampa put a hurting on Boston this afternoon and are 3.5 back of the Wild Card and will be 6 back of the Yankees if the Angels hold on to win (leading 5-2 in the 5th).

  5. Everyone would request Kansas City and Houston, or for attendance purposes, the Yankees and Red Sox.
  6. Cubs are 63-82 with a run differential of -105 No excuse for us not taking this rubber game.
  7. Baaaaaaaaaad job by Terry there. Situation cried out for an intentional walk. As Ron noted on the broadcast, Campana is "half the hitter" that Ramirez is.
  8. Turner 3.5 Bay 2 Pelfrey 1.85 Evans 1.32 Stinson .67 Byrdak .33 Parnell .33

  11. Fun ending but a sloppy game. If I were the Cubs' manager, I would've pulled Soriano for loafing after that pop fly double that Jose had early in the game. If I were the Mets' manager, I would've pinch-hit for Pelfrey in the 6th. I like that they do a live in-stadium interview after walk-off hits, even if it's totally obvious to everyone that the whipped-cream pie-in-the-face is coming.
  12. Ceetar wrote: How about Turner's single that went over the fence? It was a double.
  13. metirish wrote: True, and I'll add that a ticket to see the Mets is very reasonable, and kids were free Kids' tickets free is a nice touch but generally, tickets as priced by the Mets are still badly in need of market correction.
  14. I'm glad somebody just came out and said it.
  15. metirish wrote: If I were an Astros fan I would be really pissed about my team going to the American League. As bad as they are now the Astros have a rich National League history, yeah they never won a WS but still, in my mind they are an NL team. I agree; I too would be infuriated if I was an Astros fan. There's little doubt in my mind that baseball screwed up by not putting the Diamondbacks in the AL West when they came into the league (and the Astros in the NL west). Further, I recall that there was at least a several-year window after the Diamondbacks (and Devil Rays) came into existence that either could have been moved to another league if baseball wanted.
  16. This one goes to 12
  17. You must be referring to Miguel Batista, who I can't remember as an Expo but I'll wager he played there at one time or another.
  18. Bruce Chen is still pitching for the Royals I think.
  19. Luis Ayala Jon Rauch
  20. Of course you can remove someone from the 40-man roster when they are on optional assignment in the minors. Doing so, however, is going to open a player up to being lost, whether via a waiver claim or the Rule V draft. That's not the point, however. If Mejia is on the 60-day DL -- even the minor league 60 day DL -- he would not "count" against the 40-man limit, the same way that Murphy doesn't "count" against the 40-man limit.
  21. You're not sure on what? That he's on the disabled list? Forgive me for not putting much faith in "someone" who "told you" this. Placing Mejia on the disabled list does not accumulate major league service time as he was not placed on the major league disabled list. As to the question regarding his option years, he will be eligible for a fourth option year based on the fact that he will not have accumulated five full seasons of professional service before his three option years are up. See here: http://www.bizofbaseball.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=655&Itemid=75
  22. Mejia isn't listed on the Mets' website as 60-day DL but he must also be there as well.

  24. 12 day games but we're not one of them.
  25. 2 RBIs for Tejada as well as a first major league hit for Josh Satin so far.
