  1. Really shitty performance by the Mets, but when you have only 3 credible major league regulars in the starting lineup, what do you expect to happen? I really enjoyed Ryan Braun telling off the home plate umpire, especially as the ump had it coming, having shown up Corey Hart twice earlier in the game. When Roenicke didn't also get tossed, I took it as a sign that the ump knew the call was bad. Fielder is a fantastic player and the Mets would do well to sign him and move Ike Davis to right field (Duda to left) but I think we all know that's not gonna happen. As for the bench-clearing incident, we're not throwing at you, moron. Thoughts on rain delays at the park: 1. It's interesting to see how security remains moronic even at midnight with 2500 people in the park. I don't think they need to let people into the Sterling Club seats (don't worry, they won't) but guarding the first two rows behind each dugout as if people sitting there was a national security threat is idiotic. Why do you hate your fans? 2. It's easy to sneak into the Caesar's Club, and more difficult but still manageable to sneak into the Sterling and Acela clubs. But I cannot figure out a workable way to sneak into the Champions Club. Any ideas? 3. During the monsoon, security closed off the "Taste of the City" area to fans, yet you wouldn't believe the number of people who kept going up to ask if they could just pass through to get to the Shake Shack. 4. There are TONS of really nice flatscreen TVs in the Citi Field clubs and and the bars. So, during the rain delay, what do they put on them? A shot of what's on the scoreboard (ie. the rain delay message). But on how many of the TVs in the bars/clubs is this message displayed, you ask? ALL OF THEM. Really. They really can't be bothered to, I don't know, put the MLB Network on instead? Or perhaps pay for the Extra Innings package? Cheapskates.

  6. I'm ready to let Nick Evans start in left field at least against lefty pitching.
  7. Ceetar wrote: not for nothing, but he does have an .806 OPS in the last month. Well, um, don't let me fall over myself congratulating him here. People who have an .803 OPS -- for the ENTIRE season -- and aren't making half of what Bay makes: Billy Butler Yunel Escobar Edwin Encarnacion Andre Ethier Ian Kinsler Yeah, I'm not excited either.
  8. Edgy DC wrote: Pay the city shocking amounts of money to trick 7-line subway cars out in team colors when running during the ballgame. This actually is a fantastic idea. The MTA is more than happy to "wrap" a subway car with your advertisement (they need the cash) and they do so regularly on the 42nd Street shuttle trains and a few other ones too. I don't know if it's affordable for an entire season but certainly a few times a year they should do this.
  9. I would've said Hoffman but I think he started his career in Florida, no? Percival is my guess.
  10. Check out the 3rd one and how the seats filled. They sold out the Upper Reserved but nobody wanted to pay to sit in the upper boxes. The last one is from the glorious 2006 season but I can't tell which game.
  11. What a moron. Less talk, more performance please.
  12. Generally speaking, I like Jay-Z. But that one song is just a crime against humanity and I'll die a happy man if I never hear it again.

  14. On the 25 right NOW!!!? I'll say David Wright.
  15. Tulowitzki JJ Hardy (?)
  16. Wright is an exceptional athlete in his prime. He would do fine at shortstop. I hate the idea only because it is the result of Reyes being gone. If Reyes does leave, however, this arrangement (with $$ spent on better pitching) is not a bad one.
  17. Thole 3 Tejada 2 Evans 1 Harris 1
  18. Error by Forsythe brings us Willie Harris as the tying run. With 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, I'd be tempted to PH Hairston to see if he can crack one out.
  19. Still need one more before we get the trying run to the plate.
  20. So, I take it you're thinking Beato instead?
  21. Not to be a smartass but I think you mean Friday the 19th against the Brewers. Already have tix but will try to find you to say hi (or at least will probably see you on the 7 train on the way back).
  22. Ok, I guess we just still it to Heath Bell again.l
