  1. 58 pitchers have pitched at least 120 innings this year (so far) in the national league. only one of those pitchers has yet to allow a double-digit homerun total by opponents. anyone want to guess?

If it were Jeter, it could have bounced on the warning track before going over the fence and they would have called it a homer. its mlb rule 96.2: "If Derek Jeter shall hit a ball within 20 feet of the foul pole it shall be considered a homerun if the game is either (a) in the 6th inning or later, ( within 3 runs, or © a playoff game. if Derek Jeter shall hit a ball beyond the original position in which an outfielder was standing when the pitch was thrown it shall be a homerun if (a) a fan reaches out and grabs it ( it can reasonably be ruled a homerun without completely undermining the integrity of the game © a fan jumps on the field and returns to his seat, with the ball, before security can tackle him, or (d) the yankees need to win the game."
  3. i wouldnt even want credit for a no-hitter retroactively. could you imagine if this were the Mets? the crowd that was there and everyone watching on tv didnt get a no-hitter, went home without a no-hitter... and then they find out on the internet that they got one a few days later. should we go back to the ballpark and cheer? put the pitcher up on Delgado's shoulders and jump around the infield? no fake moments please.
  4. ]Latest example of advertising where it doesnt belong: Go to your favorite MLB teams web site, look at the September schedule, and check out Sept. 16th. A Star Wars-themed promotion at the stadium that day? asks Sean Wilson. Nope. Thats the day LucasArts releases Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, their new videogame. They seem to have struck a deal with MLB to promote this with this stupid picture of Darth Vader on the schedule of EVERY team. Not baseball-related at all but on the schedule anyway is. Maybe not a new low, but pretty bad nonetheless. remember the spider-man bases thing? THAT was a "new low" for advertising. this is nothing to me. the "ford recap" or "pepsi player of the game" is far more annoying than this (not that those annoy me either)
  5. 2 out of 4 is good enough. i'm not resting any regulars with a penant race and 2 days off this coming week.
  6. DocTee wrote: I would not be surprised if Colorado--with a load of games v. their weak divisional rivals-- makes another late run Colorado sucks, and I thought that was crazy talk when I read it, then I went and saw how bad Arizona and LA actualy are.
  7. Ayala strikes out Weeks to end it! (with a dropped 3rd strike of course, this is the Mets after all)
  8. is that something to do with the star wars cartoon movie?
  9. metsguyinmichigan wrote: Tatis!!! Tell you what, he's been our least-expected most valueable player. I'm not sure what the criteria to get the Comeback Player of the Year Award is, but he's deserving. is there an award for each league? because i think Josh Hamilton wrappe dit up a while ago in the AL
  10. give it a rest already magdanan
  11. nice to see another team getting the job done for us, now if they could step up and ake anither game from the phils it would be great
  12. its 6-0 nats
  13. beltran and church with back-to-back hits to add some insurance
  14. BIG D getting it done again! Gagne is a completely different pitcher from the guy who couldn't be hit with LA
  15. Sheets was just lights out but they've gotta score against the bullpen
  16. FUCK Santana commits a balk to score Fielder from 3rd
  17. Frayed Knot wrote: ="Nymr83"]What happened to Sheets???? Tightness in his groin ... meaning he either needs therapy or looser shorts i hear a good blowjob can loosen that up. wheres the club hooker?
  18. washington leads philly 2-0 in the 1st inning mets have 1st and 3rd, 1 out, against villanueva
  19. What happened to Sheets????
  20. bmfc1 wrote: Look at Gomez's OBP--with that speed!--yeesh. looks alot like Jose Reyes once did
  21. ]but that didn't stop Rickey Henderson, who, with two out, tripled against young Mark two out is not "the kenny rogers situation" with 2 outs you have 3 choices of which hitter you want to face (though i personally wouldnt choose the 3rd one unless it was something like Ortiz-Manny-Drew and i'm walking them to get to Drew) to get only 1 out, no infield in or anything
  22. Fman99 wrote: I think the Rogers strategy sucks ass. there are times when you do it and times when you don't, it really has to boil down, with nobody out, who you think you can get a groundball (or K, or popup) out of with the infield in.
  23. Nymr83 wrote: i'd have pitched to Jacobs who strikes out a TON of course that doesnt matter when you're just gonna walk the next guy anyway, throw a fucking strike
  24. i'd have pitched to Jacobs who strikes out a TON
  25. ]My point, I guess, is that I'm having more and more trouble figuring out how Sanchez is at all capable of helping a bullclub that has to win from here on out, much less be of any use in the playoffs he's not. is his velocity still down as it has been lately? the bullpen has sucked ass again, can the offense pick them up? Murphy is on...
