  2. ]Tougher to predict what would constitute a satisfactory record during this stretch any record better than the phillies' record.
  3. lets face it folks, everyone is gonna suck after bob murphy. i prefer wayne hagin to mccarthy
  4. Beltran
  5. i'd love to see morris getting a pitching coach gig.

="Elster88"]Boston 11, New York 3. Enjoy the offseason!!!
  7. they are already sharing so much revenue that teams like the Marlins aren't paying a dime of their own player payroll. i don't think its anything more than a few owners who are cheapskates, though i wouldn't give such a huge bonus to an unproven nobody either, and i really hate scott boras.
  8. AG/DC wrote: You're jumping from seems to is. where am i doing that? you said "there's" (which i take to be there IS) "plenty of evidence that..."
  9. i dont think thats true either unless you mean "every runner that gets on base should score" the mets are 3rd in the league in OBP and 3rd in Runs Scored. seems like they are taking care of just as many opportunities as can be expected. they have not wasted "more than their share of opportunties"
  10. of course theres still 0 evidence that links scoring early instead of late to a worse win-loss record.
  11. When the question is phrased, as it is above, as "most" culpable any answer besides "Pedro" is nonsense. Are others "also" culpable? sure, but not nearly to the extent of pedro. if i were doing a reverse-schaffer vote heres my culpability: Pedro -6 (5 runs over 5) Schoenweis -1 (leadoff triple essentially ended it) Ayala -1 Sanchez -1/3 Feliciano -1/3 Church -1 (0-6, 4 LOB) Castro -1/3 (0-3, 3 LOB)

Yeah, that was a shot at those of you arguing that the O "had got the job done." I still say 7 runs is enough. I blame Pedro. The other guys scored 8, Einstein. so if we scored 15 and the other guys got 16 thats the offense's fault too? maybe there shouldnt be pitchers in baseball just pitching machines, then you could blame the offense for everything
  13. i'd walk the bases loaded here, because the phillies will have no pinch hittes, you face the pitcher (some pitcher) with 0 outs, then you pray for a double play from the next guy if you cant go home to first on the pitcher
  14. leadoff triple probably ends this game.
  15. Elster88 wrote: Schneider's homer is comiing in the 13th if we can get there. did Elster watch the game already, it sure feels like it should be over by now and i'm listening to a recording...
  16. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: He made them up obviouisly. The offense has "done its job." the offense has done it's job, which is to score runs.
  17. Elster88 wrote: 2 runs in 6 innings for the pen today. this game is hanging on pedro's head imo.
  18. runs are runs though, when the offense scores it scores and the pitching staff needs to do its job. what's the difference if the mets score 5 in the first or break a scoreless tie with 5 in the 7th? if anything i'd rather score early, chase the starter, and tire out their pen.
  19. heilman gets through it but he's probably thrown 50 pitches in 2 innings here, and schoenweis is the only one left out there. this has been my only complaint about Manuel so far, he uses the relievers for a batter or two at a time which can leave him short-handed in extras.
  20. metsguyinmichigan wrote: We can blame the bullpen all night -- and I will -- but the freaking O has pissed away all kinds of chances. the offense did their job, Pedro Martinez didn't.
  21. i cant believe the mets just blew a 7-0 lead.
  22. ="Elster88"]="metsguyinmichigan"]OK, so who do you give the ball to in the ninth? Ayala? And why is the new Reyes not here? They waiting until Sept. 1? Still building the arm maybe. Possibly already a crowded bullpen too. I never remember how the postseason rules work, what are the requirements for being allowed on the postseason roster? Playoff Rosters: Playoff rosters must be set at 25, not including disabled players, on August 31. For each player on the 60-day DL, teams may add players to the eligible list during the playoffs at the same position, provided that they were in the orginization on August 31 Teams must choose 25 players from their playoff eligible list before each round of the playoffs. so since everyone has some players on the 60-day DL there are always going to be extra choices come october 1st.
  23. OMFG jimmy rollins kills us
  24. pedro is melting down
  25. i don't think "rally you bastards" was me, i dont generally say bastards. if i posted in that IGT i'm likely one of the F word posts.
