1st and 2nd nobody out for Derek Lowe and what does the opposing poitcher do? he walks derek lowe with matt kemp on deck. its 2-0 Nationals, but it won't be for long
well i think all the games should count the same when there are 162 of them (which means you need a tiebreaker game.) the NFL is in a bit of a different situation because with only 16 games there are multiple ties every year and worse yet there are often 3 teams tied for one spot, and with how physical football is the idea of a team having to play 2 tiebreaker games is not one that many people would endorse.
if there are two teams with identical records i'd want the 1 game playoff. the only time i'd want to use an alternative method is if the "loser" of a division tie will win the wild card anyway. if i'm making a list though i'd put head to head first.

i saw this the other day, what a load of shit. unless a kid is wild enough that he's beaning people all the time theres no reason to stop him from pitching.
i looked the list over and have no major disagreements with it. If i was actually doing such a ranking, it would be hard for me to have a minor leaguer (Wieters) in my top 50, but i guess he's worth it and i guess Longoria would have been there (though not so high up) if the ranking had been done before he had come up and had success.
they should cut the non-sports first, like synchronized swimming. something being difficult doesnt make it a sport, otherwise we could have a math test as an olympic event

you think i'm an agent for any union? read the politics threads again. i'm not against instant replay, but i want it started in the spring and only for disputed HRs
The "limit" should be when the manager perceives the starter as getting too tired, wild, or hit hard, screw pitch count. Maybe Santana grooved a bunch of junk fastballs and changeups in there and feels fine at 100 pitches. Manuel is doing great pushing them more innings when they look good.
Santana 6 shutout innings, 104 pitches, 7 hits (2 doubles), 1 walk, 4 strikeouts. I'm inclined to send him back out there for one more inning but this is a time where i'm not too annoyed if his night ends.
