  1. Apparently NOT all Mets fans can agree. I'd say no too.
  2. Wait, what? They can get stale raisin bread?!?!
  3. Not really. Senga and Peterson are a good start, but they need more.
  4. I'd like to see the Mets sign Vientos to a long-term deal that gets him two or three years past free agency. Other teams have done this with their young stars, and I think Vientos might be the guy for whom the Mets should do it.
  5. Maybe the Mets will have to offer him many many millions to the Yankees' many millions.
  6. I think in the years to come, let's call them the Nimmo/Lindor years, which will pretty much span the rest of the decade, there will be multiple playoff appearances. The expanded postseason field, of course, has a lot to do with this, but it also makes it harder to get to the later rounds, since two thirds of the playoff teams have to get through an additional round. So yes, multiple visits to the postseason. But no guarantee that we'll see another LCS, much less a World Series. That will require both skill and luck. All that aside, I have to say the 2024 Mets are among my favorite versions of the team, right up there with 1985 and 1999, and maybe even ahead of 2015.(I'd count 1973 as well, but I was only ten years old and didn't have the proper perspective at the time to realize what a special team it was. It was only my third season as a fan.)
  7. =Gwreck post_id=177212 time=1729533272 user_id=56] In all seriousness, the faster we can get away from Grimace, the better. Let 2024 remain 2024.
  8. =Cowtipper post_id=177188 time=1729525965 user_id=166] Assuming the purse strings are fully open, I'd bring back Severino, Quintana and Manaea.
  9. My hunch is that Baty will be traded, although there's a chance that they'd be selling low. I predict he'll go in part of a package for a starting pitcher who "needs a change of scenery".
  10. http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/images/2024/2024preview.jpg> The first round of the tenth annual Tabloid Cover Derby will open on Friday, November 1. We currently have 249 covers in the competition: 92 from Newsday, 86 from the Daily News, and 71 from the New York Post. These numbers are expected to climb a bit, with the inclusion of any offseason covers that may accumulate before the final poll of the first round is posted. There will be at least 25 polls in the first round. The counts are actually low for a season in which the Mets went deep into the postseason. This is largely because the Mets only appeared on two covers during the first 25 days of May, as they appeared to be irrelevant and also because of the extended playoff runs of the Knicks and Rangers. As always, the winning cover will be displayed proudly in the lobby of the CPF's international headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden.
  11. I'd keep Stanek. I think that at least one or two of Severino, Manaea, and Quintana will be back. I don't know which, but I'd like to keep Manaea. Martinez is almost surely gone. I expect the Mets will import an outfielder, and I know we all hope it will be Soto. If that happens, I'd consider Marte as a DH. Winker can return if they see that as a platoon thing. I hope Pete stays, but I realize that that may not be the best long-term decision. It will be one of the major stories of the offseason for the Mets. My guess is that he's gone, only because Boras will keep him unsigned for too long. But we'll see.
  12. It would have been nicer if I had had a chance to post this before last night's loss: https://leaptoad.com/mets/cards/2024NLCSGame5.jpg>
  13. Tack-on runs for the Dodgers. Almost time to fire up the Hot Stove.
  14. Yes. I'm glad we're sticking with him.
  15. I've seen every inning of every Mets postseason game since the first game of the 1973 NLCS.
  16. Acuna didn't score from third on a double play?
  17. There's a day off tomorrow, so Diaz going two innings isn't the worst thing. If the Mets score a few in the eighth I'd give the ninth to someone else.
  18. Looks like they're going to ask for six outs from Diaz.
  19. (I don't know who that is.)
  20. Six outs to go. I assume some will go to Diaz, but will we see anyone else before him? Maton? Butto? Senga???
