    I would think that the umpire would be watching the ball as it crosses the plate (or doesn't cross the plate). Can he even see where the catcher's mitt is? I'll have to check for that when watching the game tonight, if I think of it.

    I attended that Mike Scioscia game. After that, it would be another 34 years before I'd see a Mets postseason game in person. Mets-Dodgers, NLCS Game Four in Queens. It's hard not to think of that game. I was thinking, before yesterday's game, that the Mets might have a chance to get that three games to one lead that had been denied them in 1988.

    Well, the one thing I'm glad about is that they didn't use Peterson. Ideally they'll win tomorrow without using him and he can start on Friday instead of Senga.
